President Bush met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in the Oval Office today.
President Bush also welcomed the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals to the White House this afternoon.
Vice President Cheney was at the Pentagon speaking at the naming ceremony of the USS Gerald R Ford.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice continues her travels and meetings in the mid-east.
First Lady Laura Bush continues her three-day visit to France, touring a number of landmarks in Paris.
President Bush declares today 'Religious Freedom Day'
President Bush has proclaimed today (Tuesday January 16th) as "Religious Freedom Day." In the presidential proclamation, Bush said today commemorates the passage of the 1786 Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, which was written by Thomas Jefferson, and to celebrate the First Amendment's protection of the right to worship freely.
The proclamation notes that people in other parts of the world don't enjoy the same liberty, and many face religious persecution. Bush calls the freedom of worship" a gift from the Almighty", and he says the United States, quote, "Must continue to promote the importance of religious freedom at home and abroad."

I only have a cell phone. The plan I have is great and quite inexpensive, until you go over the minutes alloted in the plan. Then it is $1.00/minute. ;*(

I am indeed back -- but oddly, the clicking sound that my PC was making before it froze, is occurring again. The tech said he ran diagnostics on the hard drive and it's fine, and thought that the splitter that was used to connect with the power source was causing an irregular power flow, causing the crash. He removed and replaced the splitter (returning my speakers to a low level audio output waah), but there is that clicking again. I wish I could get a new PC.

What musical is Eric doing? Our daughter is going to be a bystander in the opening street scene in her college's production of "My Fair Lady". She's at a VEY small college, so a LOT of the students are going to be in it.
She hadn't seen it before, so we got the DVD of the movie while she was home for Christmas. She loved it! I realized that I must have never seen the entire thing, because there were some songs that I knew, but didn't know they were from that musical.

N\Boy, oh, boy! Between Rush calling him a wuss this week and my local guy saying he has lost confidence in him, I am SO glad to read this letter. With your permission, I am going to steal some facts from it and send one of my own to the local guy.
I have no illusions that Rush will pay any attention to anything I send him. I simply turned him off, and will let his station know why.

Eckstein's quote was even better than that. I caught a different blurb this morning. Eckstein said, "He is an amazing man, who is leading this country in the right direction!"
Thank you, David Eckstein.

Received following email from Mike today
I am doing much better, I've just been too busy trying to catch up from
being sick, and until I'm completely better, I'm staying out of the basement
(Dungeon) Doctors believe the cold damp basement is what made me sick to
begin with, and since I no longer have an internet connection at work, I
haven't been able to post on FR.
Please let everyone know that I'm OK, and that I'm sorry for not checking in
sooner, it's been a rough few months.
Thank you for caring,
Mike
