I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of your son, Chris.

I thank Chris, and, you and the rest of his family, for your service and sacrifices for this country. Words seem very inadequate to express my heartfelt condolences to you, Mr. Mason.

May God comfort you and shower you with his grace and mercy as you and your family mourn the loss of your precious son.

Dear Dad,

Thank you for the life of your beloved son and for his great sacrifice for this country.

Tell him to say HI! to my brother, forever 19 years-old, who died in the Battle of Saipan over 60 years ago.

We never forget our heroes. They live on in our hearts and our minds until the day we go where they have gone before us, to prepare a place.

A place of refreshment, light, and PEACE.

God Bless all our troops; we love them all.

Holy Father,

There is an emptiness that only You can fill, a hurt that only You can heal, a sorrow that only You can comfort. May You, the God of all hope, fill this family with Your love, restoration, and the promise of that grand reunion with Chris in the glorious place that You have prepared for us all. May this family feel the tears of sorrow and the debt of gratitude that this nation holds for its precious fallen sons and daughters. We can never repay them; we can only hold them up to You in humble appreciation. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

2Co 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Words cannot express the the sorrow, the gratitude, and the admiration we feel for men such as your son and their grieving yet stll patriotic parents. As Pres. Reagan once said, "Where do we get such men."

Soldier rest, Gently pressed,
To the calm, Mother Earth's
Waiting breast;
Duty done, Like the sun:
Going West.

In Memory of Chris Mason, 82nd ABN Div

The awful news comes

followed by a gasp.

The choke of a sob and tears,

the loss so deep, unspeakably deep.

The father’s joy now a memory,

an overpowering sadness.

Tempered only by the knowledge

that another Christian Soldier

has gone to the place where there is no pain

only peace and eternal rest.

OH...my DEAR LORD!

I am so very sorry for your loss.
What a handsome, young hero.

There was a time, during my husband's time in the Navy,
that I was as prepared as I could have been to lose him.

But, I have never been prepared to lose my child.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family.

May God comfort, and richly bless, you and yours.

The last verse of the "Star Spangled Banner":

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation,
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto—“In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The power that made and preserve us as a nation comes from brave, just men like your son; we are the land of the free, because people like you raised brave men and women.

As I raise my boys, I'll make damned sure that their heroes are not ball players or entertainers; I'll make sure that my sons understand that true heroes are men like your son.

Thank you, and God bless you and yours.

Mr. Mason.

I've clicked the links and read of your story. And I join in prayers with thousands of other Americans who support you and your family at this time of grief.

Prayer and Faith are powerful spiritual weapsons that can get you through these difficult days.

I hope you and your family find comfort in knowing your son gave his life so that others could live in freedom.

God Bless you.
