TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's Meteorological Agency issues tsunami warning for country's east coast after magnitude 8.3 earthquake in northern Japan.
Where are you located? The CA EDIS system is down...
Apparently Hawaii just went to a warning also, outer islands and North Shore!
I still only see 7.7 magnitude on USGS quake website.
I wonder if the 8.4/8.3 reports are wrong. That is a huge difference. 7.7 is barely enough to make a tsunami, 8.4 would make a big one
looks like they changed it to an 8.4, either way - it was a big one.
It appears that about 30,000 people live on the Kuril islands. And there is a volcano there as well. (according to wikipedia). Definitely praying.

They're saying 8.4.
Well anytime quake hit Japan everybody ask how Godzilla doing ROFL
They already had a high surf advisory.
TOKYO -- Japan's Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings Saturday following a magnitude 8.3 earthquake in the Pacific Ocean.
The agency says a 3.3-foot-high tsunami could hit the northeastern coast of Japan's northern island of Hokkaido around 2 p.m. (12 a.m. EST).
Everywhere I look says 7.7 has it been downgraded?
Actually, I received an email that it was down for the past two days, but it looks like now it is back up. They have changed the format of messages in CA...and a lot of the email and text messaging programs need to be updated:

That should be hitting by now then. We'll be hearing news one way or the other soon.
The quake has reportedly created a small tsunami off Japan and there's no other info. We'll see.
WA state checking in here 0 under a Tsunami advisory. Prayers up Please!
If a tsunami, the waves will most likely reach Hawaii about 5:15AM ET, Saturday.
