NEW YORK (AFP) - Former New York mayor and 2008 presidential hopeful Rudolph Giuliani left detailed plans of his proposed bid for the White House in a hotel room, a tabloid reported.
The 140 pages of printed and handwritten text reveal how the Republican frontrunner intends to mount his campaign, complete with detailed plans to build a 100-million-dollar war chest this year, the New York Daily News reported.
"The loss of the battle plan is a remarkable breach in the high-stakes game of presidential politics and a potentially disastrous blunder for Giuliani in the early stages of his campaign," the paper said.
The Daily News said it was handed the dossier, complete with details of fund-raising, budgets and schedules, by a supporter of one of Giuliani's rivals. It said the file was left in a hotel room in an undisclosed location in the run-up to November's congressional elections.
One page in the battle plan reveals aides' concerns that "insurmountable" factors could scuttle Giuliani's run, notably issues surrounding his private business interests, disgraced former aides and one of his ex-wives.
Giuliani's spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
Polls give the former New York mayor a slight lead over his closest rival for the Republican Party nomination, Senator John McCain.
I'd be mad at the hotel if they gave my business documents out to a competitor, maybe I'd even sue them. But I doubt a candidate will do that and create further embarrassment for themselves.
"Giuliani spokeswoman Sunny Mindel suggested there were political dirty tricks behind the loss of the documents and called the timing suspicious."

I agree with you! The $100 million quote is what led me to believe it was a doctored document because that is nothing new to someone running for office. When his campaign spokesman calls it dirty tricks, you can bet this document was shall we say 'not legit!'
Funny how some Freepers are so quick to believe the media it is a legit document.
I am furious. See the way the NYT is portraying it and him? "potentially disastrous blunder; potentially damaging for Mr. Giuliani, " ---
That's very possible also .. I just don't think he left them behind
When the NYT's talks like this, I become even more suspicious.
I know you're not, but this has me mad. The reports indicate the paper was given the documents by a political rival of his.
Why not name the party of that rival? We are left to ponder RAT or GOP rival.
Exactly! It stinks and 'stink' almost always goes back to the source: POS clintons'.
I'm sure Hillary is reading it right now.
I'm waiting for Tancredo's "Macacca" moment.
GIULIANI: You've Gotta Make It Here, Before You Can Make It Anywhere
RedState's California Yankee reports Rudy Giuliani's 12/18 $2,100-a-ticket Manhattan cocktail party "disappoint[ed]" since it fell short of the 500 tickets needed to raise $1 mil. according to attendees. CY adds: "Fellow presidential wannabe, John McCain, upstaged Giuliani's fundraising event by announcing a 57-member New York finance committee that includes Jets owner Woody Johnson; billionaire financier Henry Kravis; and Henry Kissinger."

Politicians want money. ExWives are trouble. In other news, Pope is still Catholic and Bears still.....
Right! Me too.
Asked whether it was a coincidence that Mr. McCain was issuing his list the same day that Mr. Giuliani was holding his lay-down-your-marker fund-raiser, Mr. Weaver responded, There are no coincidences in life, but I would guess this would be one. He laughed.

And a lot of Freepers have been suckered by it.
Total BS. If Giuliani had really left this at a hotel, the hotel would have notified him, a cleaner finding it wouldn't have risked firing to somehow figure out how to get it into the hands of one of Rudy's rivals.
This was either stolen, left by a staffer accidently in a public location like a coffeeshop, bar, or meeting room, or a fake.
Hmm, that was an intersting read. I don't know which sleazeball to feel worse for.
Thnak again, TK. I remember reading about a recent event wherein he raised under a mil. That must be the event.
