That should have been a red flag, right there.
For me it was...but apparently not for his "flock"

Celebration of Justice Served, yes. Celebration for the need to met out such justice in the first place, no. We can have sympathy for victims of violent crimes, but not empathy unless we too have been a victim (such as in losing a loved one to a murderous tyrant or thug). Unless one has experienced that pain, there is no way of really identifying with those who have. Imagining the pain is not, and can never be the same as experiencing that pain in the present tense. You're mixing apples with oranges.
Of course one would rather imagine pain than to actually experience pain. Doesn't mean one can't imagine emotional pain, drawing on real life similarities, without experiencing the pain for the moment.
For example a person who has dropped a cinder block on their toes has a great deal of empathy for those who have a cinder block landing on their toe in the present...no?
From experiences we all draw on in life, it's morally lazy not to be able to identify with the pain that a Saddam victim must feel and the joy a Saddam victim must feel when Saddam is finally executed.

No, I think you should put down the waving piece of paper and actually back up your charge. Point out who on this thread wants a person like Saddam to come along so that we would have to kill him?
To: FreeReign
After reading the wikipedia article on the execution, there are only four countries that did not have a negative reaction to the execution. China, Israel, Poland, and Australia. The rest, including the Vatican, condemn the barbaric practice of capital punishment. Its amazing how pussified Europe is.

AND YET, one surprising piece of footage I saw early this morning AM, was people CHEERING in the streets of Dearborn Mi. I had thought Dearborn was overwhelmingly if not exclusively dangerous Wahabbist territory.

For example a person who has dropped a cinder block on their toes has a great deal of empathy for those who have a cinder block landing on their toe in the present...no? And you acuse me of mixing apples with oranges? Trying to somehow equate the physical pain of a minor injury in terms of being able to relate to the psychological pain of having a family member brutally murdered?
As my job has at times required, I once had the unfortunate experience of providing grief support for a large number of teenagers who endured the pain of losing one of their friends who was raped and murdered (she was only 13). I and several other psychologists provided that support during a viewing of the girl, where the parents of these children dropped their children off and left them there for hours. My pain was in watching and trying to help these children work through their grief. This is not the same as the pain they experienced at the loss of this friend. Yes, I had sympathy for them. No, I did not have the ability to empathize with their pain. These are distictly different feelings. As I've never had the experience of having a loved one murdered, I cannot experience empathy as that requires I be in the same place that they are.

Greatly overrated. There were no more than 100 people in the video.
FOX made it sound like there were thousands celebrating.

You're being obtuse. Are you purposely trying to avoid the point. A similar example could be made for emotional pain as for physical pain. Do I really need to make that illustration?
One doesn't have to feel physical or emotional pain for the moment to actually be able to understand it and empathize with it.
From experiences we all draw on in life, it's intellectually lazy not to be able to identify with the pain that a Saddam victim must feel and the joy a Saddam victim must feel when Saddam is finally executed.
I celebrate too along with them
To: FreeReign
Empathy and sympathy are not equivalent feelings, and as stated before, if you've never experienced the loss of a family member through a brutal murder you CANNOT feel empathy for someone who has. Take a little time to look up the difference between the two and then try to have a reasoned debate on this issue.
If you've experienced the brutal murder of a loved one, then you can have empathy for the Iraqi's who've suffered under Saddam. If not, then you can sympathize with their pain only. And, no I'm not being obtuse, just realistic in using the appropriate vernacular.

Don't forget Saddam was a Sunni ... most of Dearborn MAY BE Shia.
The war between Sunni and Shia is behind this.
To: supremedoctrine
That footage is responsible for my post. There are also Arab Christians and Chaldeans, mostly dispersed in the western part of Dearborn. But there is a lot of Wahhabi activity in the eastern part. What concerns me especially, is the location. Canada, Michigan, Western NY, PA is another Wahhabi corridor.

Also look up the words "imaginative" and "vicarious".
I'm going to do you a favor since you don't seem to want to go there.
Imagine the death of a loved one. Most people have experiences to draw from. Now imagine a great injustice that you have felt in life...whatever it may be. Now combine those two and closely imagine what it must be like to be a victim of Saddam.
Now imagine the joy of an injustice resolved.
I celebrate along with the victims of Saddam.

Between Colmes and Larry King I could not decide who was the more despicable in their viewpoint.
I felt that the guest on with Anderson was given ample time to speak, he ws not interrupted and Anderson asked good questions that elicited good, informative answers.
I did post early on that CNN had the best coverage AFTER Larry King and his odious guests, but people were still upset over King.
I just had to move away from FNC and early CNN. If there are any re-runs, try to catch Cooper with his Iraqi guest.

BTW, you still haven't backed up your charge with names of posters wanting a person like Saddam to come along so that we would have to kill him.
For somebody who is lost to feel some level of empathy for Saddam victims you certainly have these posters pegged, right?
