Interesting, the guy dragging Saddam out of his hole is most definitely not a 4th ID soldier, which who we were told captured the old SOB. Could be Navy SEAL, but otherwise must be CIA operator. I don't think it will happen. I talked with my son on Christmas, who is over there, and he reports that the insurrgents just are not what is reported in the US media. JemiansTerror, my son, said that recently four insurgents began sniping at his unit, which is a construction battalion. They had FOUR rifles. Just that, FOUR RIFLES. No extra ammo, nothing. The construction battalion had all sorts of tanks, humvies, weapons and bunches else (please forgive me for using specific military terms!).

Those four will not snipe again.

Perhaps not, if it's loaded with blanks. Gas operated weapons require a blank firing adapter, as well as blanks. BFAs are available for AR-15/M-16, SKS, and AK-47 and clones thereof. Others too I'm sure.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the Pershing Missiles are gone too. Yet another "arms control" treaty, the Intermediate-Range_Nuclear_Forces_Treaty signed in Washington, D.C. on December 8, 1987 by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. It was ratified by the United States Senate on May 27, 1988 and came into force on June 1 of that year.

And of course the 1911 is no longer military issue, replaced by the somewhat delicate Beretta M-9 firing the underperforming 9mm NATO round, starting in 1980.

It's too bad too, the M1911 was designed to fire the .45 ACP round, which in turn was designed to kill Jihadies up close and personal, at least insofar as it nearly duplicated the ballistics of the old .45 (long) Colt.
