A Christmas Prayer
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning
make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds
with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven,
for Jesus' sake.
Amen.

Thank you, Sheila and Jim!
Merry Christmas to both of you...and I want to thank you for providing a meeting place for us every day...but for people who aren't visiting family on Christmas Day...it is the perfect gathering place.
I hope Santa Claus brings all of the gifts on your lists!!

And a Merry Christmas, right back atcha,
I would like to share a true story of the season with you all.
My wife and I were on our way to her office Christmas Party when we ran out of gas several miles from the nearest service station. So I pulled the spare gas can from under the clutter in the trunk and prepared to hike.
I had gone a ways, when this woman passed me going in the other direction. She turned around and headed back the way I was slogging, stopped and picked me up. She then drove me to the closest gas station.
She had her little girl in a car seat in the back. The tyke woke up and we had a cheerful three way chat.
When we reached the gas station, I found that my spare can leaked, and that I did not have the funds to buy a new one. This rare person insisted on buying a new container, and driving me back to where my wife was waiting. During our conversation, I tried to get her name and address, so I could send her a 'thank-you' card and re-payment for her time and trouble. She deflected my questions; not so her daughter, who merrily babbled on about her family until her mother shushed her. That's how I found out that the child was being treated for leukemia, a situation which she accepted with considerable aplomb.
So let us remember all the truly good people who are still out there, and if you are the praying kind, put in a word for little Jordan Elizabeth.

Merry Christmas Jim. And may the good Lord provide you and yours a new year full of good things, things that mean a lot to us that no longer have the rigors of youth on our side.
God bless. George
