A defiant Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday dismissed the United Nations Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program as "a piece of torn paper" that would not deter Iran from its nuclear activities.
"It is a piece of torn paper... by which they aim to scare Iranians... It is in the Westerners' interests to live with a nuclear Iran," the semi-official Fars news agency quoted him as saying.
In his first response since the 15-member Council voted unanimously Saturday to impose economic sanctions, the hard-line Iranian president said that the supporters of the resolution would soon regret their "superficial act," the Irna news agency reported.
"This resolution will not harm Iran and those who backed it will soon regret their superficial act," Ahmadinejad said.

The world is acting like it has an Iranian knife to its throat and Iran is acting like it has a knife to the world's throat.
Nothing will end this but military action. Nothing.
Why should little Israel be expected to carry the water for us?
Who didn't support the resolution besides N Kor and Venezuela? And Cuba.
"Israel is smart enough to wait until they can do so with most of the world's OK (or at least mild acquensence) on it."
That time will never come. The majority of the world are anti-semitic and wish only for Israel to disapear. When the right thing needs to be done, you don't wait for other's approval, you just do it.
"Hey, not to worry, John Kerry wants to go over there and 'dialogue!'"
Please! Oh, please, oh, please, oh, please! Let's hold a Freeper Bake Sale to buy him a one-way ticket; you know how he likes to take handouts, LOL!
Carrot, meet Stick, LOL!
Can't we just declare open-season on this jerk now?
Thank you for your concern with your attempt at setting our directives strait Imanutjob, however trust in the idea that we can figure out what is best for us without your impetuous rhetoric as a national leader.
This is a big problem and I don't think we should put the burden on them. The biggest reason is that Israel is like the US and has lots of internal enemies in its own government.
We gave them a free hand this summer and they basically stopped short of doing what they should have done - because of internal opposition and a wimpy government. This made them look weak and made us look like idiots.
If we're going to take out Iran, we have to do it ourselves. That said, we won't do it, and I'mANutJob is perfectly safe in taunting us, threatening Israel and developing all the nukes he wants.
Swell, all we need is to affirm that we are a bunch of idiots striving for direction at the knee of a helmsman who is capable of being stuck in forward and reverse at the same time.

Phew- and here we thought the sanctions were going to be viewed negatively- I guess i underestimated the severity of the sanctions- my mistake- not http://sacredscoop.com
I think its more like dope meets dork!
Winning friends through threats.
Hey, it might work. Kerry's such a yawn -- maybe the plan's to bore Ahmadinejad to death...
The last election period showed us as a country to be more concerned about real issues that are more threatening than the WOT and the "axis of evil".
More like "ME, ME, ME meets his rival ME, ME, ME".
I don't think that Iranian men are alone in this. Just take look at Saddam. Remember he was talking big before we went into Iraq
