President Bush held a news conference this morning in the Indian Treaty Room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. Click HERE for a complete transcript.

Later, the president signed The Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, “a bill that will extend tax relief to millions of American families and small businesses and add momentum to a growing economy”. Click HERE for a complete transcript of the president’s remarks.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Andrew Natsios, U.S. special envoy to Sudan and Darfur, at the State Department.

And Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, along with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Peter Pace made a surprise visit to Baghdad where they met with troops and commanders to discuss future options in Iraq.

It dawned on me that maybe I should give my season's greetings now as I will be w/o my desktop tomorrow when the movers come. I have been packing for a few days now and will be happy to get the boxes of stuff out of my living room. I learned I need to dust more! I'm lucky not to have asthma.

I have a laptop, but access to the Net will be limited until I get to Iowa City on the 25th. (yes I'm traveling on Christmas, trying to avoid the pre-Christmas travel crowds).

None of you folks has invented that drug for FR withdrawal, yet, huh?

So, Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah !

In addition to his already horrific schedule, he's had to host over 25 holiday parties since Thanksgiving -- these parties require the President and First Lady to STAND for FOUR HOURS shaking hands, making smalltalk and talking pictures (mostly with people who will 'stab them in the back' the next day!). . .

Excellent point.

Thanks, Deb, as always for the great links and reads :)

I found a wonderful colour paste at the local chemist (pharmacy) they specialise in hiring out speciality cake tins and you can premade ediable decorations etc etc there. They have all manner of colours and this one is called Christmas red it is very red. As I needed to use so much I decided to buy this expensive one rather than use a cheap colouring

Ummm-hmmm, that's IT. The English version of the Red Velvet Cake. And I usually use a 10" pan (tin). Well done.

I actually got the recipe from a neighbor, who got it from a relative who had the cake in Hawaii in a restaurant, then asked for the recipe, which the chef gave her, then charged her $100 on her bill.

She called it the $100 cake.

I think this recipe takes on a life of it's own, much like Flat Stanley.

I have to wrap about 8 presents before I go to bed. The girls at work all give each other Christmas presents, cards to write for work as well. Will I get it all done probably not LOL.

The Reader's Digest version

LOL! Whatever works! Personally, I always read the transcripts. No matter how closely you listen, there are volumes spoken between the lines that are generally missed.

To all our devoted and talented Dose Posters and all Daily Dosers:

~~ Wishing you all a safe, peaceful and Happy Christmas .. celebrating the birth of Our Dear Lord with your loved ones ~~

Karen Carpenter ~~ Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

That's the lovely song that plays throughout this lovely PowerPoint Christmas presentation, and the message and gorgeous pictures are truly magnified with this very pretty song.

If you haven't seen it, just copy and paste into your browser. I wish I had the link to it WITH the music, but it came in email without a link. If you haven't seen it, it's truly beautiful and heartwarming. Enjoy!

I'm more in the "I'll give him a chance but I don't really like him" camp.

I figured that ;)

I'm not thrilled with the guy either (who is?), but this has to be awkward for him too, stepping into a job that was held by a living legend like Rummy. I don't envy that.
