No candidate is more polarizing in the GOP. As much as we dislike McCain, at least he isn't totally liberal on social issues as Rudy is. I will vote for neither, regardless of who the Democrat may be. By 2008, almost anything can happen.

I'm FOR Rudy. But I will vote for whoever wins the primary.
That is saying more than those who vow to stay home.

Yes, it says you will vote for anyone who has an R behind their name whether you agree with them or not. It says you have no principles or convictions.
Loyalty to the Party above all else. Has a familiar ring to it.

No one named conservative head on head would at the moment beat Rudy in an FR poll. You can write that down. But hopefully Jim will put up a poll with the new wonder kid's name on it, Mr. Duncan Hunter. That race might be close. It won't be so close if Romney's name is on it I suspect.

"No candidate is more polarizing in the GOP."
If our polls are worth anything, McCain is shown to be more viscerally despised by more than twice as many than Giuliani. He may vote better, but Giuliani is not mentally unbalanced and senile. Still, poor choices all around.

He won't be getting my vote either. If the Republican turnout in the '06 election was low, wait til Rudy is the candidate in '08! Guaranteed win for Osama and Hillary. Oh, and Obama and Hillary, if he should run. Talk about energizing the conservative base. The only way Rudy can energize the conservative base is to run WITH Hillary as a Dimocrat.

I would simply like to see a poll (or set of polls) with Rudy against a Conservative head-to-head;
Examples:
Who would you vote for (GOP nominee):
1.) Rudy Giuliani
2.) Newt Gingrich
Poll #2:
1.) Duncan Hunter
2.) Rudy Giuliani
Poll #3:
1.) Tom Tancredo
2.) Rudy Giuliani
Poll #4
1.) Pick Conservative
2.) Rudy Giuliani
I think you'd get a real sense of what the other polls already told us; that the majority of Freepers want ANY alternative to Rudy Giuliani (and typically, McCain).

Oh, you mean like Rudy's loyalty to the Party when he not only voted for Cuomo,,,,but proudly, publicly ENDORSED him?
Not only do I not vote for liberals--I especially will never vote for liberals who happen to be 'Clinton-apologists' like Rudy.

The only little problem with you poll is that Tancredo is not running, and Newt is unlikely to. Still, Newt might run, so fair enough. Romney should be up since he is a real candidate. I guess McCain could be put up, but he would be slaughtered of course.

Here is an important question: will he reverse the Mexico City Policy?
To: Jim Robinson
By the way Jim, your archive of polls should have the dates posted as to when the voting was open. It might be a pain in the butt to go back and do it now, but I strongly suggest that you start doing it now for future polls, particularly for polls of candidates, so folks can track changes over time.

One day soon, the Rudy-ophiles are going to be positioned with a very difficult decision.
If Rudy is the front-runner, many people like myself will devote our votes and efforts to a third-party run by a true Conservative.
When they essentially see that petition draft being spread around by Conservative grassroots organizations and volunteers setting-up a candidate who'll flank Rudy on the right, they will have to make a hard choice:
1.) Continue unconditional support for Rudy and hope unified Democrat base won't be enough to beat GOP candidate minus a decent chunk of Conservatives.
2.) Find a more Conservative candidate to back, despite their adoration of Rudy, in the hopes of finding common ground with the grassroots Conservatives a candidate who will at least meet a threshold of Conseravtism in the Bob Dole sense.
I really think that when the time comes and they are really faced with the actual REALITY of Hillary Clinton soon to be the nominee for the Dems, added with a wishy-washy public being weary of giving Republicans four more years in the White House, and Conservatives like myself trumpeting our warnings from the highest mountains about not supporting Rudy and passionately and tirelessly working to flank him on the right -- I think there will be that moment when enough of them take a deep breath and realize that no candidate is bigger than the party, not even Rudy.
I really cannot see him winning this nod, early polls be damned.
