Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.
So happy to hear he is beginning rehab!! Thanks for the update
But it really doesn't matter whom you put upon the list,
For they'd none of 'em be missed--they'd none of 'em be missed!
("I've got a little list," from the Mikado.)
I wonder what this ninny used to make HIS diagnosis and proclaim Dr. Frist to be mistaken? Did he haruspitate with chicken entrails? There certainly are enough chicken guts lying around this thread.
In other words, Terri suffered more than five hundred times as long! The same people who beat their breasts over a murderer's execution were nearly unanimous in approving the innocent Terri Schiavo's prolonged and horrible death. They were actually delighted by Michael Schiavo's hellish killing of the woman he promised to love, honor and cherish.
Disabled trumpeter, dad steal the show
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We just came back from seeing The Nativity Story. We loved it!
This young man must make the heavens smile! Born without eyes. Remember how the visitors mocked Terri for (allegedly) being blind? Would they mock this fellow too, and put him to death because he's "disabled"? That is the logic of "right to die." The same logic as Nazi eugenics.
I am deeply envious :-) -- it's not playing anywhere near us. But, hey, you are enjoying it for all of us, and that's good enough. Happy new year!
That's a silly question. You've been around long enough to know they would. You won't see any of them over on that thread, talking about how uplifting this story is. If they show up at all, it will be to mock.
If the news media and the courts said this disabled person should die, they would believe it. That's the 10 % club for you.
It gets me that SOME critics said it was boring, but it was NOT. Those critics are just antireligious.
Hope you get to see it on DVD.
Just so. As G.K. Chesterton observed, so usefully: for those who will not believe in God, the danger is not that they will believe in nothing, but that they will believe in anything. We witness that every day.
Orwell and others have made a very similar observation that there are some things so stupid or ridiculous, only an intellectual will believe them. And indeed, there is practically no theory too bizarre to find favor in the coffee houses and universities. These are not the people you want on your side in a fire fight, or in a survival test, or using heavy machinery, or working a farm. They are not people you want on your team for thinking, either.
For sure! Still, there are some movies you should see on a big screen -- Strictly Ballroom and Sophie Scholl, the Final Days, to name two.
>> The elder Hughes said that despite the challenges, he feels blessed.
>> "Patrick has taught me a lot about life," he said. "Mainly, he's taught me never to say never."
I was going to challenge you on the word but just didn't have the guts.
:-) :-)
This was for you, not for me. You know why.
A supporter of Terri is recovering. (May we also continue our prayers and wishes for Robert Schindler who is recovering.)
D. James Kennedy, author, theologian, biblical scholar, pastor of the 10,000-member "Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church" in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and founder of the highly influential Coral Ridge Ministries, is reportedly showing signs of improvement following a massive heart attack last week.
