London (dpa) - Former Russian prime minister Yegor Gaidar, who was hospitalized after falling ill at a conference in Ireland, was poisoned, his daughter claimed Thursday.
``It was a political poisoning,'' Maria Gaidar told the BBC's News 24 channel. Doctors see ``no other grounds'' for the mystery illness, she said.
The 50-year-old was initially hospitalized in Ireland and has since returned to Moscow where he remains in hospital but is said to be improving.
Gaidar was acting prime minister in 1992, though Russia's legislature ultimately vetoed his candidacy.
In the 1990s, he served as economics and finance minister and as a legislator championing Russia's controversial privatizations of former Soviet state properties. He is currently director of a Moscow economics institute.
Alexander Litvinenko, a former colonel in Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), a KGB successor, died Friday in London after falling violently ill.
Litvinenko, a fierce critic of Russia's intelligence services and President Vladimir Putin, was apparently poisoned by radioactive polonium.
Unclear.
She claimed this Thursday, but when did this alleged poisoning happen?
Seems like she might be jumping to conclusions, but on the other hand, Putin's boys have kind of fed the hysteria by knocking off Litvinenko.
It's becoming more and more clear that Putin's loyalties still belong to the KGB and the Soviet Union. There's nothing I wouldn't put past that psychopath.
Does Gaidar have Gaydar? :)
I think he invented it.
No, not THIS gaydar....
Damn Vlady strike again
There is a famous "poisoning" story in an old Muslim writing..circa 1850. The perp was a woman in that story.

Looks like the day after the other guy died. So last Thursday?
If it turns out this is, in fact, a deliberate poisoning attempt, the ramifications are chilling. Gaidar is a former premier with one of the most prestigious jobs in Moscow. To attempt to kill someone with that high a profile, with that much personal security, and that many political connections is surely no small task.
Putin was (IS) KGB. They've just become more sophistocated. The old bullet in the ear was soooo messy.
He went BACK to Moscow??? Is he crazy??
Another glass of wine Rasputin?
There is a report that he ate at the hotel and food was ok, but the tea tasted funny..
The Russians have a history replete with examples of out-to-pasture high governing officials and their sublieutenants being disposed of to eliminate their influence of possibility of adverse information becoming known. Doubt that? Just recall the fate of the entire Tsarist Romanoff family and their attendants after the 1917 revolution and the fate of the Kerensky wing of the revolutionary gang. Hell, they even got to him in Mexico.
Good one.
The iron vladimir...
