Happy New Year! I'm glad you're here, as I was just about on my way out!

My 5-year-old (as of Dec. 22) can read, but he also thinks he's invisible, so it's a dubious situation.

LOL! Invisible, eh? Maybe he really is, and the only people who can see him are his relatives.

It's the scoping out and seizure of new threads that I find fascinating. Like I said...reminds me of hermit crabs.

We're a little more conventional in the Hobbit Hole. ;-)

He responded with "thank you, my lady".

LOL. Is there an SCA connection here? (Whatever the case, you're son's learning well. Not long ago a liberal friend of a liberal friend thanked me for a little favor I did her at said mutual friend's funeral and said, "I'm glad to see chivalry's not dead.")

Yes, and this time, I made peanut butter AND chocolate chip cookies! I wasn't sure how the move was going to go, so I made extra.

One of my plans for 2007 is for Der Prinz and me to learn to dance

Back around 1987 the goodwife and I took classes in Royal Scottish Country Dancing (square-dancing with a vengeance and kilts). I was terrible at it -- "Where do I go now?"

I'm still of the opinion that RSCD is a Lallans thing, dressed in the livery but not of the Highlands.

Sort of I guess. I believe we only ever started one new thread and that was when our current one was sucked up by JumRob's vacuum cleaner. But he gave it back and all was well again. (Incidentally that was where the dust bunnies came from.)

But Zot threads are our lawful prey. It is even in the bylaws somewhere.

Thanks. But I must plead ignorance: what is SCA?

My son's always been taught basic things about being polite: knowing to say 'please' and 'thank you', and knowing when to say it. He forgets sometimes, and he's still learning when to keep his mouth shut. It's funny sometimes when a 6-yr old says something, but it's also embarrassing a lot.

This is a place to come and relax. We discuss lots of things, including religion and politics, but not much, because there are other threads for that.

This is just a place to hang out, enjoy the Flying Castle, and see what it's like in Outer Space.

Still have a way to go here...I'm in Sionnsar's time zone. I'm thinkin' I'll just stay up until midnight Eastern time and call it good.

I love chocolate chip cookies - and yes, we do call those kind of biscuits 'cookies' over here, I guess because they are an American idea.
