Hennepin County Judge Robert Lynn dismissed a woman's attempt to get a restraining order against U.S. Rep.-elect Keith Ellison on Monday.
The judge also issued an order preventing the woman, Amy Alexander, from repeating allegations that she and Ellison had an extramarital affair or that Ellison tried to intimidate her or smear her name, according to Ellison's lawyer, Carla C. Kjellberg.
Alexander can't come back to the court for a restraining order against Ellison, who has denied having an affair with the woman.
The two have been fighting through lawyers for more than a year. Ellison, who became the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Congress earlier this month, got a restraining order against Alexander in June 2005 after what he described as phone and e-mail harassment.
Kjellberg said Ellison agreed to dismiss that restraining order as long as Alexander doesn't contact him. If she does, he can go to the court to have the order reinstated.
maybe he can issue a fatwa against her from the House floor.
Did CAIR pay the judge off?
"The judge also issued an order preventing the woman, Amy Alexander, from repeating allegations that she and Ellison had an extramarital affair or that Ellison tried to intimidate her or smear her name..."
So the judge is restraining free speech? Must be from communist China.
Hennepin County Judge Robert Lynn dismissed a woman's attempt to get a restraining order against U.S. Rep.-elect Keith Ellison on Monday.I'm confused. Why does she want a restraining order when Ellison has already sworn out a restraining order that restrains her? When you swear out a restraining order what you are saying is that the other person should not contact you, and you have no intention of having any contact with them. Is Ellison bothering her even though he swore out a restraining order against her?--that would be odd.
My view depends on guilt or innocence of the two parties.
One possible version of reality is that the man DID have an affair with the woman, and she is retaliating his breaking it off with her by smearing him in public to try and wreck his career and ake his life as miserable as possible. If that is what happened, then the judge has gagged the truth in order to protect a politician.
The other possibile version of reality is that the man did NOT have an affair with the woman, and she is a jealous crazed bitch trying to destroy him for refusing to. If that is what happened, then the judge is absolutely right to silence her so that she can no longer spew lies and damage him.
Which version of the story is the truth?
Apparently the judge believed version 2.
Temporary marriage gone bad.
Smart judge.
It's wise to go easy on the co-congregant of people that would saw
your head off for any pretext, however small.
"If that is what happened, then the judge is absolutely right to silence her so that she can no longer spew lies and damage him."

I never heard of an injunction on this type of speech unless it was part of a settlement in a victorious defamation suit.
Why doesn't he sue her for defamation of charachter? How do we know if she is telling hte truth or telling a lie?
Allah FUBAR
If he was a REAL muslim, he would've sawed off her head for being in public without a male relative escort.
Ellison -- send him to the Atlas Mountains on permanent assignment.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
That's so on-its-face unconstitutional that I think it must be bad reporting.
And another version is that the woman is telling the simple truth.
Keep in mind that Ellison is a known scofflaw, wh is nevertheless the first Muslim elected to Congress in a dstrict where the outgoing democrat did not endorse him but supported a third party candidate instead
Its second hand of course, but a party involved DFL friend of mine was already leery of Ellison before the election as this woman wasn't the only one he has had "issues" with in the past.
OK, that was funny!
This is a free country and she can say whatever she wants then if she slanders or libels him then he can sue her for civil damages, that's the American way!
Any way of geting some of this info out?
With the cabbies and CAIR meetings and Ellison, things are not looking too good there despite Pawlenty's win.
