FOX 9 NEWS ^ | 11/20/06 | FOX 9 NEWS

Posted on 11/20/2006 7:06:49 PM PST by ButThreeLeftsDo

Six men were removed from an airplane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Monday evening.

Sources say the men, of Middle Eastern ethnicity, behaved in a manner that caused the crew to be concerned.

The men were taken off the plane after it returned to the gate and are being questioned by authorities.

The remaining passengers were also taken off the flight, U.S. Airways flight 300, bound for Phoenix.

Those passengers are being re-screened for boarding.

There were 170 passengers on board the plane, which is a Boeing 757.

Just getting an opportunity to catch up on this story (from last night).

None of it has to make sense. It has become apparent (at least to me) that Islam is a 'make it up as you go' faith/. To stay in the perpetual state of 'outrage' the faithful must think on their feet (or knees as the case may be) and make up the most outlandish laws/beliefs/customs to make the rest of the planet adapt to the them. Other than outrage, there is no constant there. Everything seems to come at the whim of the 'outragee.'

Thanks for the link.<pProps to the passengers who alerted the flight crew...and something really struck me...the need for seat belt extensions. Odd request (if not needed) but wonder what other uses the six could have had for them?

I think the usefulness was probably for future reference--an exercise in seeing what items could be gathered on board. I hope investigators consider carefully each seemingly inocuous item they carried on that could be combined with items acquired from flight crew. A seatbelt extension alone could be deadly in the hands of someone trained in martial arts. Wouldn't have to be legit training in any discipline--just proficiency in the use of that item.

The police report includes a statement from a flight attendant saying that the extensions were put on the floor, not hooked up to the existing seat belts. Since they never pulled away from the gate, they wouldn't have had to have had the belts fastened, but not readying them at all certainly adds to the curiosity.

Can the cries of racial profiling be far away?

That was probably the purpose, and the media will help in any way they can.

"Imams Gone Wild"
By Paul Sperry
FrontPageMagazine.com | November 30, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Back to the Saintly Six imams kicked off US Airways Flight 300. Their ringleader Omar Shahin whined, "What happened to us is terrible." No, what happened on 9/11 is terrible, and airlines and their passengers will be damned if they'll tolerate any more treacherous tricks from packs of truculent Muslim men on board their flights.

Shahin knows of such shenanigans. At his former mosque in Tucson, Ariz., he ministered to two college students removed from an America West flight after twice attempting to open the cockpit. The FBI suspected it was a "dry run" for the 9/11 hijackings, according the 9/11 Commission Report. One of the students, Hamdan al-Shalawi, had trained for attacks in Afghanistan, the report says. The other, Muhammed al-Qudhaieen, became a material witness in the 9/11 investigation.

Even so, the pair filed racial-profiling suits against America West, now part of US Airways. Defending them was none other than Shahin, the public face of the Slighted Six imams who returned to the US Airways ticket counter at the Minneapolis airport to scold agents before the cameras, and then staged a protest at Reagan International Airport in Washington."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The request by three passengers, including Mr. Shahin, for seat-belt extensions, also concerned flight attendants. "That was a dead giveaway," one federal air marshal said yesterday. Flight crews are cautioned about giving out seat-belt extenders because you can turn it into a weapon very easily. You swing that belt buckle, and you can potentially kill someone."

Mr. Shahin says that after they were questioned and released, US Airways declined to sell them another plane ticket, even after an FBI agent intervened at the imam's request. "I told him, 'Please sir, to call them.' And he did and talked for more than 20 minutes. He was trying to tell them we have no problem with the government and we can fly with anybody, but they still refused. He told me, 'I'm sorry I did my best.' I really appreciated it."

Paul McCabe, FBI spokesman in Minneapolis, says no such call took place on behalf of the men. "That never happened," Mr. McCabe said."
