Surname, it's more than that...he's an immigrant. He's Cuban, immigrated here when he was 16.
And his 2005 ACU rating was 100%. Not bad.

That is my biggest complaint...in fact, when I first heard the news I was flabbergasted...because I know what time Ken Mehlman put into the job...and it wasn't enough.

About those "Ratings"... shouldn't they be revised? - LOL

Love Ileana! However, wouldn't it be nice if we were beating up dems instead of our guys?
There's a story up on Drudge about the dems unhappy with Pelosi getting herself in the middle of the Hoyer/Murtha choice.
Guess people feel better beating on their own? I don't get it!

According to the ACU ratings, Mel Martinez scored a perfect 100% in 2005. That's correct, and his lifetime rating is 96.
Hardly what I would call a 'moderate.'

One thing I have learned through the past 12 years is that a lot of Republicans are fickle.
:-(fick÷le (fĭk'əl) pronunciation adj.
Characterized by erratic changeableness or instability, especially with regard to affections or attachments; capricious.

According to the ACU ratings, Mel Martinez scored a perfect 100% in 2005.
Perhaps some would prefer a Senator who scored 200%. Math education in the public schools isn't what is used to be.

This is not the time to "give someone a chance". Do you know who he is? He is so so so boring, no personality, looks like a dork
What an intelligent response! I nominate you for poster boy of the Martinez lynch mob.

I just don't understand why they would even choose a temporary one...this is only November 13th...and Mehlman won't leave until January.
I am calmed down...but, it still doesn't make sense to me.

Oh Yeah? How do you know that? My last name ends in a vowel. My problem with him is he is weak, ineffectual, boring and wrong on many issues. Don't start playing the race card here.
To: Dems_R_Losers
Do you think Fletcher will not run again in 2007? Shouldn't he be defeated in a primary to have any hope of holding on to the governorship? Will Ben Chandler run again for governor? Why do you think "Ms." Northup lost? Yes, I know that McConnell has had more success in KY than many other Republican leaders in other states. Look at how bad the GOP is faring now in MT and CO.

I concur completely.
At first, I loved the idea of Steele at the helm, but soon realized the foolishness of that appointment for Steele, if he has ambitions for elected office nationally.

Thanks. Looks like Martinez ACU rating is good!
We could do worse.
To: kesg
He is not an immigrant - he is a political refugee from a repressive communist system - he has become an American now. He had to flee his home to come to this great nation of ours.

I stopped funding them when Jeffords jumped ship and they didn't think it would be proper to ask to be reimbursed for the contributions they made to his campaign.

What issues is Martinez "wrong" on.
If he has a 100% ACU rating in 2005 with a lifetime rating of 96%, I am curious as to why so many are upset?

I resent being called an "angry white southern Christian".
I also was backing Steele for the job...so I am NOT racist.
To: onyx
You loved Steele. How is that. Everyone else hated the idea of Steele. No opinions of your own allowed.

I am tired of wannabe-conservative types costing us elections.
There needs to be more than 2 major parties in this country and the immigration issue proves it. Why? Both parties look and speak the same.
