WASHINGTON (AP) GOP officials say Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman will step down from his post in January.
Maybe Melman could do a joint strike and head up mclames campaign as well.
I thought that liberals supported the right to privacy.
As for Ken Mehlman's private life, I really don't care. A major part of conservativism is minding one's own business.
"I thought that liberals supported the right to privacy."
ONLY when it pertains to dims. Republicans have no such rights and must be outed in every imaginable way. Their rules, not ours. I vote we overturn this practice. It's stoopid to put up with it.
"Oh, and in order for me to care what Maher says on this, I'd first have to care whether or not Mehlman is gay. I don't."
Thank God someone said it so I didn't have to.
Not necesarily. The voters don't know how their congressmen vote or where they stand on so-called "issues." Many cannot even name their congressman. Many times all it takes to win is to have a recognizable name.
He's gay?! Did I miss something?
Gay-partial-naked-midget-wrestling. Sounds like a new show for FOX TV.
The RNC needs to have someone with a big set of testicles and iron skin to take over and run the committee the way it should be.
That's unnecessarily rude. I am more disappointed in the lack of get-out-the-vote efforts than in his personal life. During the last election, the former chair sent dozens of emails inviting people to work at the RNC or to have house parties or neighborhood canvassing; all very effective. You could go down to headquarters and work until you dropped, with all meals and snacks provided. Not a word about it this time.
LOL!!!!
funny
you think you know what everyone did- or did not do to win this election...
TREMENDOUS attitude there towards your FRiends...
A BIG CLUE was when Mehlman leaked top secret White House documents to gay Log Cabin Repubs.......Kenny offered to resign over this huge betrayal----but the offer was refused.
Looking at the election results, only God know who else Mehlman was assisting, and who he was taking orders from, while running Dem campaigns from RNC headquarters.
Although it would be helpful if Kenny's phone and email records were turned over----that is, unless Kenny has already shreded docs and damaged his hard drive.
Not really. Instead of spending enormous amounts of time and money trying to protect some NE liberals like Chafee, they should've put some effort on protecting conservative states and districts, i.e. putting few commercials like "My opponent is a good man/woman and we agree on most issues important to our district, but voting for this Blue Dog Democrat will put Yellow Dog from San Francisco in charge of the House and advance her agenda" and something similar for the Senate - cheap, easy and effective without being negative at all about your opponent... I didn't see any of these type of ads for those who don't listen to Rush.
Let's see: the Dems put a raving liberal in as head after losing the last election and then successfully ran a bunch of phony conservatives...
They should've paid attention to what Rahm and Chuck were doing, not what Dean was saying. Of course, putting any Dole in charge of election committee is a disaster, but Karl and Ken clearly missed the dynamics of Dems strategy and didn't get the turnout they were hoping for - with new rules and voting now starting early (I voted 10 days before the election day) and ease of absentee ballots strategy of turnout should change as well. GOP should stop this deference to "it's his/her turn" party elders and get younger bright enthusiastic eloquent idea people into positions of power and responsibilities for elections. They're also usually more conservative and can get youth energized to vote GOP.
For instance, as counterpart, check out the very liberal (and very bright) strategist here http://matthewyglesias.com/ ... Lots of analysis and practical ideas on how to win elections, and critique of some of Rove strategies starting in 2000, particularly stress on RI and NJ senate races.
This is something we need to be doing.
I believe so, but I'm new to this news, too.
It may be years (if ever) before we know what damage this saboteur has done.
Good call. I'm sure we have different theories on what REALLY happened. But we should definitely try to implement all the solutions and get our message to the American people. Otherwise we won't survive much longer.

Granted, he probably destroyed his hard drive to get rid of evidence, and has his shredder going 24/7 as we type. But what with new technology, he can't get rid of everything.
It would be a major assist if this Dem plant's cellphone and office phone records, his electronic messages via computer--text messaging, etc, were examined to determine who he was taking orders from to foment the Repub debacle. We need to to gauge the enormity of his calculated party-destroying activities.
The insanity of putting him at the helm of the RNC, a political party known for its "Family Values" cannot be underestimated. His elitist unmitigated contempt for family values conservatives did not go unnoticed.
Mehlman's foisting Rudy Giuliani on the party was a singular reason for the debacle. Mehlman touted Rudy as a "great campaigner," sending him out to campaign for all those Republicans----who all went down to defeat. It appears having Rudy campaigning for you is the kiss of death. This is the man Mehlman says is supposed to save Republicans in 2008.
Yeah, sure---just the candidate Repubs need: loser Rudy's three wives, his mobbed-up cronies, his abortion/gay worship, and his predilection for using his Mayoral office to advance ultra-liberalism (even though he had no mandate or constitutional platform to do so).
Your insight is amazing.
