New RNC Chair?
Fox News
Posted on 11/09/2006 12:27:27 PM PST by Bluegrass Conservative
I was just watching Fox News. Carl Cameron mentioned that Ken Mehlman will most likely step down as RNC Chair this January. Among potential replacements, he mentioned Bill Owen (Governor of Colorado) and Michael Steele (Lt. Governor and 2006 Senate nominee from Maryland).
At first glance, I really like the idea of Steele leading the party. He has both elected and party experience. Your thoughts?

I still liked Ed Gillespie the best.

I would love to see Steele in that job -- he seems smart, he has a likeable personality and a sense of humor (which I consider invaluable assets in politics -- the better to charm people with) -- and (less high-mindedly) it would be great to tweak the Dems by having a black at the head of the RNC! Love it!

He's got a bright future, but I ask this...at a time when we need to get serious about core values, does Steele have the experience to take over the entire show? He was Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party for some time. Did pretty well despite the liberal lean of the state.

My prediction:
In the Senate, they'll go status quo, everyone moves up one, 2 if your behind Santorum.
In the House, it'll probably be a free for all.
No wonder I like the House so much better, they don't think they are aristocrats.

Listening to Harry Reid right now, talking about the country's "new direction" I am thinking I may need a new hobby.............LOL.
They have sucessfully characterized US as the problem.

Let me assure you, we can't go wrong with Mitch McConnell. He has been the architect of the modern Republican Party in Kentucky. And we're at our highest numbers of both registered voters and elected officials ever!

Nevermind... Wikipedia says it will be Senator KKK in the next Senate.
I guess we'll get to see more pocket Constitutions next year.

Any idea who replaces Senator PointyWhiteHat (Byrd) as President Pro Tem of the Senate? I may be wrong about this, but isn't the Pro Tem always the Senator with the most seniority, regardless of party? If so, Byrd will remain, right?
