The GOP-Reaganites live in the past; knowing never when to apply those principles, always seeming to show up at all times to denigrate the Party of Reagan, in this day. Because they are the "real conservatives", they say.

Yes, to hear them, one would think that Reagan made no mistakes, no compromises and lost no elections!

Here's somebody else I have a problem with... Bill Kristol. Am I the only one who noticed how positively gleeful he was talking about Republican losses on Tuesday night?

Y-e-e-s-s-s. Thank you for that post, A BofM. Good thing we were not in the Fox studio---would have felt compelled to smack that smirk off Billy's silly face. As McGavin999 wisely posted: "Bill Kristol needs to be banned forever from FOX. He IS gleeful, the jerk has never forgiven Dubya for not making him a part of his Whitehouse."

Kristol's got an excuse---his problem is genetic: Irving Kristol (Billy's daddy) said, "The historical task and political purpose of neoconservatism would seem to be.....to convert the Republican Party and American conservatism in general, against their respective wills, into a new kind of conservative politics suitable to governing a modern democracy."

.........hope the Kristol's get help for that dictator fixation of theirs........

Rudy spoke at the OU Convocation in the spring several years ago and had not only the students, but the parents, and OU Faculty Senate giving him standing ovations. He managed to bring the students, the conservative parents like me, and the moderate faculty senate all together. It was amazing. He had a heckler and handled it better then any speaker I have ever seen.

I loved his comments recently that social issues belong at the State level not the federal level. I couldn't agree more.

Yep; and some want it to appear that way. Using Reagan to create a strawdog argument: Reagan Good/Bush Bad. And then from there they grow their anti Republican arguments via post and MSM and talk shows.

And if you bring up that Reagan had flawed policies, the same strawdoggers bring up a "moral attitude" as in "shame on you for speaking against Reagan -- Hey Ping List, over here -- we got a live Republican to crush between our posts!" And then they proceed to dissect the poster via ad hominem, and then declare their uber innocence that they are now discussing Bush's flaws, and the poster should just "get over it".

President Reagan WAS our President.

President Bush IS our sitting President.

There is a difference - but don't tell that to the anti-Bushies in here! Why they might write, yet one more time: STFU!

President Reagan WAS our President. President Bush IS our sitting President.

Amen.

Reagan was a good President, but even with his great electorial win in 1984, he had no coattails.

We lost the Senate in 82 (I believe) and did not get it back to 1988.

Moreover, I do not understand why people seem to be upset that Bush is dealing with Pelosi and Reid.

You have to respect their office, the person is irrelevant.

Like in the military, you respect the rank, not the man.

Someone said that GHW Bush caved in on the tax increases to get the Deamons to support Desert Storm.

Spin, pure and simple. Bush I caved on taxes a month *before* the invasion of which there was no warning.

Since hellbender agrees with your limited knowledge of economics, obviously, you'll be enjoying Nancy Pelosi's economic plans.

President Bush has specifically said, over and over, he does not support an AMNESTY plan.

No "amnesty" plan, he just supports a period and program to legalize millions of illegals...

Of corse, everyone not tied to the administration just calls such a plan "amnesty"....

Some are saying we have two years to regroup and recover our direction, but I don't think that's right. If we don't want to lose it all in '08, we'd best get our house together immediately.

We have 22 incumbent seats to defend in the senate in 08. If we conservatives continue as a part of the Republican party, major retooling on core values and the platform needs to take place now to make that happen.

No...nice try george.

Believe it or not I voted straight R in the Soviet Republic of Illinoisistan, this year, and the last 4 election cycles. My quarterly donations to the RNC ceased a while ago...right around the time Bush's shamnesty program was being touted. So if you want to somehow refer to me as "a teaching them a lesson" I guess you might have some leg to stand on there.

Pfft...my "representative" in Congress is former black panther Bobby Rush. I know full well what dems in power can do, and how dead people can vote...(multiple times too)

Yes, I even voted for Judy Barr-Topinka (RINO) for governor of Illinois. So don't give me any $hit about staying home.

My (as well as many others) displeasure with the national, and in my case, the Illinois republican party is damn well founded.

I don't recall trashing the President (recently) care to site an examble? I sometimes trash the policies of this administration but rarely do I trash the man.

Of course, idiots, who have no clue about the laws passed over the past 30 years, sound just like you.

No "amnesty" plan, he just supports a period and program to legalize millions of illegals...

If you added some facts and details to your miserable conclusion, you might actually break some thinking cells.

Of corse, everyone not tied to the administration just calls such a plan "amnesty"....

Yep, the vigilante bots do this. I know. And what you do supports Democrats. While you hide behind your FENCE, and beat your chests and claim to be "protecting Americans" better than the President does.

Out of respect for conservatives, he'll wait a week before delivering his latest iteration of an illegal alien amnesty bill euphemistically called "immigration reform" or "guest-worker plan".

I'm not "tied to the administration" and I don't call it amnesty. So I'd rethink your statement there. Referring to "everyone" or "all the time" or some other all-encompassing phrase is generally wrong. "Everyone" will never agree on anything.
