Prayers requested for the family of Raymond O'Donnell, my Father-in-Law, who passed away November 7, 2006 in Plant City, Florida.
He was a World War II combat veteran, one of our finest generation, that made possible the freedoms that we all enjoy today.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Angeline, his sons, Terry and Denny O'Donnell, and his daughter, Sherry Lee, my wife, also known on Free Republic as 'Mata-Sherry', and about 10 to 12 grandchildren (I don't know the total).
Brief Services have been held per his last wishes, and a Memorial Service will be held for him in January, 2007, in Plant City.
Thanksgiving will be difficult without him, making your memories of him all the more precious.
He was a hero in this life, a man children could be proud of,leaving behind a great legacy and posterity.
And now, he resides in Glory with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, perfect in every detail.
And for that, we truly give thanks along with you today.
May the peace that passes all understanding surround you and your family this Thanksgiving Day.
Condolences and prayers for you, the Mata-Sherry, and your family.
Here's to an American hero.
Prayers offered for the soul of Ray......May perpetual Light shine upon him and may his soul rest in peace!
Sincere condolences to Sherry & Gonzo and all the family.
We are all so deeply grateful for his military service and fighting in WWII.
One of the nice aspects of my job is that I get to meet a lot of WWII vets and thank them personally. I have met vets who fought in every major WWII battle. They are truly a great generation, though sadly now ever declining.
Nice of you in your period of difficulty to take the time to post and pray for others.
Thanks for the prayer ping. A prayer of sincere thanks that such great Americans arose at the time this great nation needed them so much. God bless America and especially those who so stauchly defended us with such determination while I was just an infant!!!
Prayers up for your family sarge...
Thank you all for your prayers and your kind words of condolences for Sgt. Ray O'Donnell. I am at a loss for words.
The Military Salute at his Memorial Service in January had to be moved foreward one day, meaning that many of his Grandchildren who would have been there, will be travelling home on the actual day of the Service.
The reason given is that the Military is not allowed to perform a Military Salute at a Soldiers Memorial Service on what is known as MLK-Day.
Thanks again for your kind words and prayers ... ... Barry and Sherry, aka on FR as gonzo and Mata-Sherry
As you may know, I suspect we are in - or near - the Great Tribulation spoken of by Jesus in Mat. 24. We may soon envy those who have passed on.
God bless, and FReegards
Thanks, Bob. Much appreciated.............Barry
RIP. Prayer ping!
Barry...please accept my apologies for the exceedingly belated reply to the news (my schedule has been burdensome for quite some time, so quite often am unable to visit FR), and please also accept my sincerest condolences relative to the passing of your father-in-law. Regrettably, we're at that stage in life where friends and loved ones too frequently leave this earth.
Take good care my friend, and I hope that otherwise all is most well in each and every respect in your world.
