We do indeed live in interesting times
Judgement Day '06 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 11/07/2006 11:45:49 PM PST by Jim Robinson

We do indeed live in interesting times.

I believe our resolve is about to be tested like it's never been tested before and I pray we're up for it.

The Democrats and the leftist media see this election as a mandate against the president and the war. They are about to pull out all the stops in their mission to totally demoralize the American people. If they succeed to the point we pull out of Iraq before the Iraqis are strong enough to defend themselves, I'm afraid it'll be the Killing Fields all over again. Only this time much much worse and much closer to home.

Praying we have the national resolve to resist the enemy within. Praying we maintain the will to continue the fight against the global jihadists. Our very right to survive as a nation and a free people depends on it.

Our president and our troops are going to need our prayers and support now more than ever.

God willing, America will survive!

Why make trouble where there is none? There's no reason to believe it will happen. Hell, she was "wrong" on the war as far as DEMs are concerned. She might not even get their nomination. The conventional wisdom is so often wrong. Remember Bill Bradley. Mario Cuomo? She's now officially a NE liberal with zero chance. Relax.

The bottom line: Iran, Syria and N. Korea got exactly what they wanted. Lord help us, as we are surely going to need it.

You're in the minority. We lost the national popular vote last night.

Even if your premise was accurate, we can't simply pull out of Iraq and let it's populace face the ravages that would follow. When we did this in Vietnam over three million people in the region were slaughtered. We must not let that happen in Iraq. If we do, this will be the last time anyone partners with us.

It is very accurate. 49% of voters last night were Bush voters in 2004! 57% disapproved of Bush's job performance. 600% voted on national issues. 56% disapprove of how the War in Iraq. 55% want at least a partial withdrawal from Iraq right now. And, no one is partnering with us. The UK will be out of Iraq in the next few months. Before that, that was about all that we had as far as partnerships in Iraq. It was stupid to think we could achieve our objectives in Iraq alone.

There were a number of dynamics at work Tuesday. Some of it was related to the war. Some of it was related to the Bush' stance on stem cells. Some of it was related to same sex marriage. Some of it was just plain whackjob leftist propagandist disinformation. And then some of it was the perception by some on the right that their hopes and goals were not shared by this president.

The dynamics that were responsible for our loss of both the House and Senate were Iraq. We didn't lose last night because we oppose embryonic stem cell research or gay marriage. This may be more of a referendum on Iraq than I give it credit for, but it doesn't matter. We are in Iraq and we WIll see it through. That's the way it's going to be.

If we don't react to the election results last night regarding Iraq, we will have even more losses in 2008 and we will lose more seats in the House and Senate. Is Iraq worth having more liberals on the SCOTUS? The place is a hellhole and will always be a hellhole because the people in Iraq are too interested in the religious cult of Islam they are in to adopt the democratic principles we in the US had to adopt two hundred years ago to become the greatest nation in the world and too interested in fighting age-old fights over which sect of Islam is the true sect. What is your definition of seeing it through, because we will be out of Iraq very soon. The Republicans running in 2008 WILL NOT allow this debacle to happen again.

Wow! That's a whole lot of ugly to look forward to.
I've heard that it isn't a "good thing" for Hillary if the dems take control of congress.

I am hoping that even after 2 years of Dem control, this nation will rise up and vote for a "real" conservative to take over the WH and start to clean up the mess.
We have a lot of congress-critters who need to be cleaned out of there on both sides.
Let's find a new objective and work on it to make this country better than ever.

Many American's have forgotten that God is ultimately in charge. Throughout history nations have fallen for forgetting that fact.
I believe that God's blessings on our country are being rejected by too many. Unless and until we determine to acknowledge God in our government choices as well as in our behavior, we are in for a bumpy ride.
When our government choices are built on sand, we are doomed to destrustion by the storms that are sure to come.
We just need to keep praying.

Thanks for this post. I imagine most Freepers feel like they have awakened into a bad dream this am.
I refuse to cry and carry on like those silly dems did in 2004.
This election result only makes me want to work harder on the next one starting Today!
All congress-critters need to know that we will not put up with anymore sleazacrats on either side of the aisle.
We need to put the pressure on Harry Reid to resign over his past $$ dealings. He wants the limelight? Let's put him in it and see if his past can stand up to the scrutiny.

Very well stated.

When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh. Prov 29:2 (Amplified Version)

Most people have no idea what they voted for. They followed the duping of the MSM.

Funny this was NOT THE CONCLUSION when President Bush was re-elected just two short years ago!!

Funny? No, not funny, but nothing like that was MENTIONED after the Bush victory by 3 Million votes.

Now, I know you don't like New England and didn't enjoy your time here, but perhaps you should rethink your constant bashing of a region that seems to have reacted badly to southern attitude and chased out several of its remaining Republican representatives last night. And with them, went the majority.

We will see what LIFE ON THE PLANTATION is really like.

Our new PLANTATION owners: Hillary, Pelosi, McCaskill.

Maybe our nation needs to live through this to see what the truth is.

Hillary won't win the Presidency. There's a reason why she went after a seat from NY and not somewhere else (even her home state or adopted home state). If anything, she would motivate many people to vote against her, who might not vote otherwise.

I'm predicting we end up with massive gridlock (which isn't necessarily bad), or we end up with things that Republicans didn't like but that Bush wanted (Bush's guest worker program, closer relations with Mexico, etc), being passed (which is not good, but was inevitable).

"She's not going to be president."

IMHO she will be, the press will spend two years painting her as a moderate Democrat, many will buy into in as with no real Republican opposition other than Sen. McCain, she will most likely landslide into the White House.

Again, it is just MHO

Yes, it's one thing to scream, rant, and rave from the outside looking in; it's quite another to govern. We had a helluva time making that transition after '94. But what we didn't have back then was a mob of foaming-at-the-mouth loonies as our base of support. Sure, we have our moonbats, but they don't control the primary process or the Party purse strings. Pelosi, Reid, Dean, and all the rest will find that there's going to be hell to pay if they don't allow their base to indulge their fantasies of revenge; and hell to pay if they do!
