We do indeed live in interesting times.

I believe our resolve is about to be tested like it's never been tested before and I pray we're up for it.

The Democrats and the leftist media see this election as a mandate against the president and the war. They are about to pull out all the stops in their mission to totally demoralize the American people. If they succeed to the point we pull out of Iraq before the Iraqis are strong enough to defend themselves, I'm afraid it'll be the Killing Fields all over again. Only this time much much worse and much closer to home.

Praying we have the national resolve to resist the enemy within. Praying we maintain the will to continue the fight against the global jihadists. Our very right to survive as a nation and a free people depends on it.

Our president and our troops are going to need our prayers and support now more than ever.

God willing, America will survive!

Based on what? That they hate him? That won't wash, he's committed no high crime or misdemeanor! Heck we had Clinton dead to rights on perjury under oath, suborning perjury, abuse of power with an intern and committing a lewd and lascivious act in a public place, and we couldn't convict him.

No the Democrats are operating on the assumption that if they can find something to hang Bush with, they will force the Republicans to get him to resign before there is a trial in the Senate. Different standards apply to Republican than they do to Democratic Presidents.

I'm not interested in starting a flame war over who's right and who's wrong. The common enemy is the Democrats. Right now they are a danger to this country and we have to make sure they don't succeed.

Reality is reality. We are powerless to change what has happened. Now it is time to suit-up and show up. I do have a few pearls that might be extracted from the heap of feces I am greeted with this morning:

• Republicans tend to govern more conservatively when they are in the minority.

• Tha margins of victory for the Democrats are slim enough, in the Senate at least, that they won't be able to ramroad too much whackiness through.

• The attempt to be utterly whacky, as the Democrats will be, will -- even as the legislative silliness dies -- give Americans a taste of the Hillary! lifestyle, hopefully repelling them.

• Finally, we got a few decent SCOTUS judges. THANK G-D!

We can't pass our agenda any more but we can gum up the works for two years. In the Senate, conservative Senators can kill everything the Democrats want to do. It takes 60 votes to get things done there. The procedure to halt filibusters is called cloture. I expect to see a lot of use of the former. The point is to make sure the Democrats do not build accomplishments they can use for 2008.

I came here looking to write just about the same thing you wrote, so thank you for doing that for me. I DO NOT subscribe to the gloom and doom here on FR. Sure, it was a debacle, but alot of those races were VERY close. They think they have a mandate, but they just dont. We are a very centrist/conservative country, and thats just the fact.

I am also of the opinion that once the patina of this victory wears off for the Democrats, they will find things tougher going than they think. One thing is to be the minority party, where you get to whine all the time, but its a whole other ball of wax to LEAD. They run the danger of misreading the electorate with this victory. They will still have to lead from the center, even as the Republicans found themselves doing so.

When we pull out of Iraq the whole Islamic world will send its killers into Iraq and eradicate all who supported the Americans and were supported by the Americans, the Kurds, etc. Iran will have a green light to move in. The effect of the Iraqi campaign will be to give Iran control of the Middle East east of Egypt and Israel immediately and maybe Egypt and Israel after a little while. The War will not be over just because we offer the ME to massacre. Iran will still have to be dealt with even if the Democrats decide that Sharia might just be a good thing. I hope we leave as much weaponry and supplies with the Kurds as possible. They face the Arab world, the Persians, and the Turks.

Not possible...even IF the Dems gain control of the Senate this week there aren't enough votes because (gasp) there are Democrats in red states and moderate blue ones who'll never vote for impeachment...sure the Kennedy, Kerry, Boxer, Leahy, Durbin crowd will try but what about Breaux, Nelson, Landreau, Lieberman...even the old Klansman from West Va.? (Remember the filibuster 14?)

I think we'll be fine. Call me crazy, but it may even be a blessing to let the DEMs play in the sandbox for a couple of years. They won't get much past the president, especially with a 50-50 or thereabouts Senate, and maybe they'll actually move away from the hard left a bit now that they have a little bit of authority. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they are contained, and perhaps will have the incentive to behave slightly better. That's my hope anyway, for the good of the country. They dare not risk their gains on kookdom. And now the GOP has an incentive to improve their own game. So we'll see, but I'm not sweating this stuff at all. Just another day.
