I came here looking to write just about the same thing you wrote, so thank you for doing that for me. I DO NOT subscribe to the gloom and doom here on FR. Sure, it was a debacle, but alot of those races were VERY close. They think they have a mandate, but they just dont. We are a very centrist/conservative country, and thats just the fact.

I am also of the opinion that once the patina of this victory wears off for the Democrats, they will find things tougher going than they think. One thing is to be the minority party, where you get to whine all the time, but its a whole other ball of wax to LEAD. They run the danger of misreading the electorate with this victory. They will still have to lead from the center, even as the Republicans found themselves doing so.

As Spock said "After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." from Amok Time

Anyone who quotes Spock is cool by my measures.

I also agree with Spock when he said, "Jim!"

Yes, it's one thing to scream, rant, and rave from the outside looking in; it's quite another to govern. We had a helluva time making that transition after '94. But what we didn't have back then was a mob of foaming-at-the-mouth loonies as our base of support. Sure, we have our moonbats, but they don't control the primary process or the Party purse strings. Pelosi, Reid, Dean, and all the rest will find that there's going to be hell to pay if they don't allow their base to indulge their fantasies of revenge; and hell to pay if they do!
