Allen and Webb in virtual tie, less than 0.1% difference with all of the votes counted. Just announced on FOX. (Allen is winner, but you know it won't be decided until at least mid December, maybe mid January, by the courts.
How are the Virginia Courts?

That's according to CNN website. The VA sos has Allen ahead by about 1800 votes. Whew! This is nerve wracking.
To: flaglady47
they have won enough house seats to marginalize the blue dogs. they are already introducing her as the next speaker.
To: finnman69
Can't be from the official VA thead. Looks like they got the vote numbers reversed again.

Agreed. I've long felt that the time to 'teach the party a lesson' is during the primaries - NOT during national elections when the whole nation has to pay the price.I know a certain number of the party are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of blaming their favorite scapegoats for tonights 'losses', but how about we wait until there's evidence that a significant portion of the base stayed how before we start fileting them?

When the dust settles, it's 49/51 D. Trust me

If your point is correct, we are doomed. Frankly, I think this population is so dumbed down, we probably are anyway.

No you can't and when Harry Reid pulled his dirty, close the doors, attack on Frist last year, Frist still turned the other cheek and let him get away with it... time after time Frist let Reid take the lead in the Senate even though he, not Reid was the leader... Hastert, same thing would take a tough stand and then back down at the last minute and try to play nice... and then get stabbed in the back...Again these were GWs picks. These two losers. Blame Bush & his compassionate conservatism.

Webb 1,143,144 50% Allen (Incumbent) 1,140,879 49%
Those numbers look reversed!

"Oh please...these are morons that call themselves the oxymoronic 'fiscally conservative, socially liberal' label."
These 'morons' are the people who gave us the majority since 1994, and who just took it away tonight. Change nothing, address nothing, call them morons, and we can all enjoy minority status forever.

No, a 25-30 seat gain, which would give them a 10 to 15 seat advantage.

Clinton not only survived 1994, he thrived because of it. It guaranteed his reelection (that and not really having viable opposition in 96).

Time to rev up for some serious freeping. The Iraqis are going to have to take care of themselves a little bit ahead of time.
We need to stay on our game, folks. When you lose, don't lose the lesson. Eagles up.

Did I just see Webb pull ahead of George Allen?
Yep...I thought the whole cowboy boot...tobacco chewing ..good ol boy persona was a lightweight image to put forward in truly perilous times. He's a Senator from the state if VA for G-ds sake...not a frat boy extra on the "Dukes of Hazzards". Plus he made the biggest mistake of all...he underestimated his opponent.

Now its going to be all about payback for the Clinton impeachment and the last two "stolen" presidential elections.
Hope so. I hope they waste their energy and political capital on their hate of a lame-duck pres. Sort of like we did. They need to learn that lesson...hope they go for it.
To: I'm ALL Right!
"I think the media won this election for the rats."
And you would be right.

A new speech would have been good.

I agree with you, it's easier to win elections than it is to govern. And radicals rarely survive long once they gain power.
