Iraq had to be dealt with. It was never going to be easy, but it was necessary. It is now the focus of the struggle between our cultures. If we run away, they win.

Osama Bin Laden was apparently right, the US doesn't have the balls to defeat Muslims.

Makes me sick.

So let's hear it. What in the hell do YOU propose?

My proposal is to defeat our enemies and leave them to wallow in their own backwardness. At that point, we can only serve as an example to them of how a real culture/society lives in the modern age. And if they even think of attacking us or our allies we pound the crap out of them. And if they sneak out of their hellish fundamentalist existance to cause us any more problems, we pound them again.

Further, we aggressively employ collective punishment. We do not shy away from punishing entire cities or nations for failure to control their radicals. Additionally, we need to immediately stop trying to separate people from their government. People in Afghanistan were responsible for their own rotten government. People in Iraq were responsible for their own rotten government.

How is that for a start?

No more attempting to build pie-in-the-sky, fantasy "Islamic democracies". These Muslims do not share that noble goal, and unless we are prepared to sit their forever attempting to impose it, the entire plan is doomed ot failure.

a few house pick ups. more losses

but so far, not nearly the gains that have been touted by dems and the MSM.

We will keep the senate and the house, I dare say.

"Do these numbers include the absentee ballots?

The MSM which includes fox now, is not explaining the absentee ballots.

It makes me crazy that there are 50,000 election "experts in the USA and NOT ONE OF THEM knows anything at all about how these ballots are counted in individual states and how exit polling tries to adjust for it.

An earlier poster DID say quote Erlich saying that that Maryland absentees are not counted until Thursday.

I'm pretty sure a tax hike would not pass in the Senate. Nor would W sign it.

Kristol never misses a chance to show a 'rat pick-up on his little tele-strater board, but, if it's a contested seat that is projected to be a (R) hold, Hume has to tell Kristol to pull his head out of his ass and take it off the board.

Bob Taft alone brought down Ohio. That does not even factor in the other problems in Ohio.

With the loss of DeWine this ends the Gang of 14 agreement. We will be lucky to get a Harriet Miers confirmed to replace Stevens even if we hold the Senate.

In my 51 years on this earth I have learned that life is full of ups and downs. This is a downer but not as bad for me as when Clinton beat Dole in 96. If anything it will give conservatives in the GOP a chance to regroup and chose new leaders more in step with our base. Besides the Dems will find a way to screw things up. KEEP THE FAITH.
