Vigo includes Terre Haute, which is home to Indiana State University. Maybe the 75% Dem precincts take in heavily grad student and professor areas.

Is he the guy that has a major position in the House? (Hoffsteller)(sp?).

No. He is a just a rank and file Congressman, but he is a goofy campaigner - he refuses to campaign before two weeks are left in the election.

He was also hurt by the fact that his challenger is a popular, very conservative Democrat sheriff. Truth be told, his challenger should probably be a Republican himself.

Terre Haute, remember, was the birthplace of Eugene Debs, founder of the Socialist Party. VT has stolen the corpse of Debs for years now.

Hostettler, I think, is the spelling. It depends what you mean by major: he chairs the Immigration and Claims Subcommittee on Judiciary, and has been wonderful, wonderful, wonderful on this issue. I completely hate that he is losing.

Imagine how they must feel out there in Hawaii!

They've been saying absentee/early votes are down by about 20% this year here. Lingle has run an exemplary campaign and is expected to pull things away easily. The question if she has any coattails to influence either the Akaka/Thielen vote and the Hirono/Hogue vote. And I love knowing what things are nationwide before I go to bed.

"IN-8 was not unexpected anyway. IIRC, that was one of the less Bush-friendly areas in 2004 (likely on economic issues)."

It gave President Bush 62% in 2004, so it wasn't *that* unfriendly.

If you don't mind my asking, what happened with Hostettler that he is losing so big. Isn't he a big RKBA guy?

I just turned Fox off. I'll get my news here from kindred spirits.

Who will get the results since we all are turning off our TV's? ;o)

I am looking at the returns through foxnews and it shows only 12% returns in so far for Hostetler. Is that what you show, just 12% in that race?

Fox is starting to put the numbers up for IN & KY, so just use the mute button and watch your screen.

That's what I did.

Are you getting Rush in the background? Mark is talking and Rush is drowning him out.

Yes, it is unsurprising that confused IN voters who favor immigration restraints would vote out the man who stands firmly against open borders!

Me too. I've got the stereo turned up. Bill Krystal is the last person I want to watch.

Exit poll is saying 30% of evangelicals are leaving Republicans and voting Dem. Absurdness of exit polls.

Why has CNN already called Vermont without a vote being counted yet?
