One says something intelligent on DU at their own risk.
Wow --
Never visited DU - and never intend to (weak stomach...)
But thank you for this little dip into he!! -- Dante had it all wrong.....
Especially post #19 (didn't think they could count that high..)
" We really need to tell that 'truth' 2 days before an election?? "
with its tacit admission that the "truth" is their enemy...
Just, wow.....
You know, I mourn the division in our nation that both parties can't at least stand united on issues like this. It's a tragedy that the opposition has so decidedly gone off the deep end as to be supportive of America's enemies.
In the Civil War, one reflects on how while divisions over politics were strong enough to go to war, that the general traights that define Americans such as God, family and country (even if country=state back then) were predominant values among Americans on both sides. From that perspective you could say the combat was truly brother against brother.
However the divide today is so polarizing as to make the opposition appear completely alien, not only politically, but they seem to have diametrically opposed values. It's like matter versus anti-matter. Put the two together and you don't want to be around for the results.
My point is that I believe the divisions are so vast between both sides that I don't believe they can be reconciled. The implications there are obvious. We'll need to continue as always to politically castrate the opposition, whether they are in power or not. Yet I don't believe we'll ever be able to resolve the threat they represent within the political structure of this country.
Anyone else notice that despite constant leftist charges on his abuse in captivity, Saddam didn't look in bad shape? He looked more healthy than I do.
