Woman Believes People Are Created Gay
NEW YORK -- The Presiding Bishop-elect of the Episcopal Church said she doesn't believe that the Bible condemns "committed" gay and lesbian relationships.
Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori, who'll be installed Saturday at Washington National Cathedral, supports ordaining gays and allowing blessing ceremonies for same-sex couples.
In 2003, she voted to confirm the denomination's first openly gay bishop.
For that reason and others, seven conservative Episcopal dioceses have rejected her leadership.
In an Associated Press interview, Jefferts-Schori said she believes homosexuality is "how one is created," so the church should offer what she calls "a sacramental container" to help gays and lesbians find "holy ways of living in relationship."
Meanwhile, the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas said it's not one of the conservative dioceses asking the archbishop of Canterbury to appoint a conservative national leader to oversee them.
Dallas Bishop James Stanton said in a statement Monday that he still disagrees with the direction of The Episcopal Church, which in 2003 ordained its first openly gay bishop and this year elected a new presiding bishop who supports ordaining gays and blessing same-sex couples.
But he said the language in the request from the seven other dioceses rejecting incoming Jefferts-Schori and seeking an alternate leader had "caused confusion and some anxiety" in his diocese.
Jefferts-Schori is scheduled to be installed as presiding bishop on Saturday in Washington.
Dyslexia is a big problem in the Episcopal clergy, is it?
No bible that I have seen or read approves of homosexual activity. Everywhere it is mentioned it is identified with an a abomination in the eyes of the LORD. Amen. She must have a homosexual version of a book, certainly not a Bible. Amen.
You might want to say *where* he refers to them.
The result of modern Biblical scholarship, which denies the authority of the very Scriptures they study.

"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deaconess of the church at Cen'chre-ae,"

AIDS?
Could be. But considering AIDS is killing far more heterosexuals than gays worldwide, one would have to conclude the judgment crosses boundaries.
Including the fact that millions of children have AIDS in Africa, and one of the lowest risk groups happens to be lesbians. Ironic isn't it.
You're right, it's a she.
Sounds like these people never read the Book of Lot and what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.
That is as far as I had to read ...
The literal Greek is Diaconis which also means a worker or servant. A deaconess is the wife of a deacon (1 Tim 3)
Don't you know?
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their "inhospitality" to strangers.
Believe it or not this is actually the "gay-Christian" theology on this topic.
#55. I think you had better read Genesis Chapters 18 & 19 all over again. Especially Genesis Chapter 19. Inhospitality was not the reason Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed.
Start with Genesis Chapter 19 verse 4.
Uh, I think you better read my post over again.
All the way to the end this time.
I was mocking the "gay Christian" argument on this topic, NOT defending it.
Well, we both know, Sodom and Gommorrah was destroyed because it was EVIL. Not because of inhospitality.
And if Lot's wife had listened to him, and not looked back on Sodom and Gommorrah as she did, disobeying God's word, she would not have been turned into a pillar of salt.
Anyone's who's debated "gay Christians" on this issue know how weak and lame their argument is.
Biblically there is no question as to the condemnation of homosexaulity in this passage.
