MSNBC's Chris Matthews invited the Dixie Chick on last night's Hardball to promote the new documentary Shut Up and Sing and asked them if they felt their anti-Iraq position has been vindicated, to which the Chicks responded with martyred terms of being put on Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."
The following exchange occurred on the October 26th edition of Hardball:
Chris Matthews: "Martie, I get the feeling at the time that you folks, when you made that statement and you all stood behind it and took the heat for it, that the country world out there and country music was definitely for the war. I mean, I think of Toby Keith singing that song, Remember How You Felt' which is basically a pitch that if you didn't like 9/11 you had to like Iraq, that they were basically lining up and saying this was a smart thing for the U.S. to do. It turns out most Americans all over the country think it's not a smart thing that we did."

Actually, fat Nat, it had more to do with fans getting fed up with overrated musicians injecting their unwanted political ramblings into their music and badmouthing a sitting President during a time of war while performing in front of a foreign audience.
But then you're to stupid to have figured that one out on your own, aren't you?

Hey, that was the "mailing list" ~ last time she was moaning and groaning about her plight she said FR "mailed" everybody on the list to attack her.
That seems to have been a one time only thing, so if you didn't get on the list, you're not there now, so no more Welcome Wagons eh!

Sounds more like a line from "Have you forgotten" NOT a Toby Keith song by the way.

organized machine
Anyone who thinks this group is organized hasn't been reading any of the threads. Watch the atheists, agnostics, and Christians go at each other some night! I misspoke one night and had to flee for my life...

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Where's Earl when you need him?

Wonder how they would of felt about our last summers annual gravel pit shoot-em-up where a few friends and I go out and shoot objects we gather from home, Junk mostly. Well this last year I took the three Dixie Chicks CD's I had buried in a bottom of a drawer since ending days of being a fan after they went off the left end.
I put three nicely spaced shots in the CD I shot at. It did not shatter, just three nice clean holes from my 9mm. I saved the CD for bragging rights. Note: Don't worry, we clean up the mess at the gravel pit.

I had a heads up that they'd be on so I could make sure I missed them.

Matthews: I'm thinking who is gaining by your demise?"
Natalie Maines: Well, personally, I think the Right did. And I think it was originally started by the Free Republic...

Maguire: "Yes, that's, I respect that a lot. You know, I think that's common sense. I don't care what my favorite artists think politically."
She doesn't care what her favorite artists think, yet she feels a need to inform us of her own political views.
The leftist delusion of grandeur goes marching on merrily. They really do think they are superior to all others. Right now they are still outraged that their fans dared question them. Since their fans are obviously (to them) ignorant hicks, they must have taken their marching orders from a bunch of haters, namely us.
Natalie, country music fans are generally hard working, patriotic Americans. Part of that patriotism includes a recognition of the office of President, not necessarily the man, as part of the strength and greatness of the United States. Denigrating that office especially while overseas, whether in the country of an ally or not, does not set well with them.
What you experienced was not some conspiracy against you, by hidden media empires or conservative black lists. You slapped your fans in the face, how could you expect to retain them as fans? If you want to see who is really responsible for your loss of income due to your comments, just look in the mirror. I know it's easier to play the victim, but grow up.

They must think that FR is like MoveOn or the 527 groups, which are financed by billionaires and have PACs. FR is user-supported, and don't participate as an entity in election donation. Never has, and -- I hope -- never will.

I've never heard of that one either...
I THINK he's mistaking it for that song at the end of the South Park Iraq war episode.
Remember the one where Cartman gets knockced in the head and begins to think he's back with the writers of the declaration of independance??
Wouldnt that be funny, if he really got it that wrong?
