Dixie Chicks Whine About Being Put on Free Republic's 'Hatelist'(Freeper's Proud Moment)

MSNBC's Chris Matthews invited the Dixie Chick on last night's Hardball to promote the new documentary Shut Up and Sing and asked them if they felt their anti-Iraq position has been vindicated, to which the Chicks responded with martyred terms of being put on Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."
The following exchange occurred on the October 26th edition of Hardball:
Chris Matthews: "Martie, I get the feeling at the time that you folks, when you made that statement and you all stood behind it and took the heat for it, that the country world out there and country music was definitely for the war. I mean, I think of Toby Keith singing that song, Remember How You Felt' which is basically a pitch that if you didn't like 9/11 you had to like Iraq, that they were basically lining up and saying this was a smart thing for the U.S. to do. It turns out most Americans all over the country think it's not a smart thing that we did."

Natalie Maines: "Well, personally, I think the Right did. And I think it was originally started by the Free Republic. And they were very organized in calling radio stations across the country and telling them that they would never listen to their station, when they didn't even live in that town. And we knew that. And at the beginning our manager tried to explain that to some program directors and they were not willing to listen. And it looked like we were grasping at straws, so we just sort of kept quiet and let what was gonna happen, happen because they are a powerful, organized machine, and they wanted to take us down. And they did."
I didn't get the memo on this. A hate list and a black list here? That's just crap. These women shot themselves in the foot. FreeRepublic had discussions about the Dixie Chicks but I do not remember some organized effort to do anything to them. So what happened with the Dixie Chicks concerts that recently tanked? Did some Freeper go out and stand in front of the ticket offices? Maines is stupid.
LOL! Where are the feminists regarding this exchange by Matthews:
Matthews: "It's great to hear from all of you. Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines and Emily Robison. Thank you very much. The Dixie Chicks, you are great. You're great, great looking too, actually."
What's that about? Did Mathews think they were ugly before?

Hahah - it's okay for them to try to get someone to lose their job (President Bush), but when we try to get them to lose their job, it's hate?

This "hate list" was a top secret document that some Freeper leaked to the Dixie Chicks Times. Right now I'm so disturbed about this act and I hope soon we find out who leaked this informations and deal with them in the appropriate manner.

I don't have a hate list either. I am pretty new to posting here, maybe that is why. But, you would think it would have been included in the welcome to the neighborhood package.

Who maintains the "Hate Ping list"?
...but seriously.
We don't hate them. We decided that we don't feel like buying their stuff anymore. There's a difference.

I've been seeing stories that MSNBC may be changing their format and booting the losers to CNBC?

Martie Maguire: "...So I wasn`t surprised we rubbed them [country music audience] the wrong way, I just didn`t think that it would go to the extent it did." So she "wasn't surprised" but she was surprised. Guess when logic ability was being handed out, Martie was leaving her brains in her diapers. What a nitwit!
To: tobyhill
Maines: "Absolutely. They have a hate list. They have a black, they have a list, and we were number one." Don't flatter yourself, Nat. You were never number one in anything with us. ;-)

Free Republic has a "hatelist"? I have never heard of it, and I have been on, in, and around FR since 1996. Perhaps someone has a "favorites" list... and they are not on it. Perhaps they are offended by all the backs turned on them? Perhaps they are immature and childish in their incapability in facing reality? Regardless, I just don't care about the "Dixie Chicks" at all.
To: mewzilla
In interviews over the years, both of the sisters have jumped head-first into the fray, fully supporting Nat. They reap what they sow.

I checked my PDA - found my favorite wine list, reading list and grocery list, but no hate list. I hope there's a downloadable version soon.

MSNBC has tried to change before. But they just hire more losers. Until they fire Olbermann/Matthews, they can't be considered serious about ratings. I guess they're performing a public service, providing affordable prime time tv advertising rates.
I just don't get it. Matthews sucks. He's not funny, he's not charismatic, he's clearly not that bright. I don't get it.

Martie Maguire: "...So I wasn`t surprised we rubbed them [country music audience] the wrong way, I just didn`t think that it would go to the extent it did."Funny, I wasn't surprised that they'd be upset that I didn't want to hear them anymore, I just didn't think that they'd cry so much on TV about it.
