Dixie Chicks Whine About Being Put on Free Republic's 'Hatelist'(Freeper's Proud Moment)
NewsBusters ^ | 10/27/2006 | Geoffrey Dickens

MSNBC's Chris Matthews invited the Dixie Chick on last night's Hardball to promote the new documentary Shut Up and Sing and asked them if they felt their anti-Iraq position has been vindicated, to which the Chicks responded with martyred terms of being put on Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."

The following exchange occurred on the October 26th edition of Hardball:

Chris Matthews: "Martie, I get the feeling at the time that you folks, when you made that statement and you all stood behind it and took the heat for it, that the country world out there and country music was definitely for the war. I mean, I think of Toby Keith singing that song, ‘Remember How You Felt' which is basically a pitch that if you didn't like 9/11 you had to like Iraq, that they were basically lining up and saying this was a smart thing for the U.S. to do. It turns out most Americans all over the country think it's not a smart thing that we did."

Doc

What Chrissy has done has either intentionally, or otherwise, confused that with the song in the seventh season of south park where the kids attend an anti-war demonstration. Here is a link to the dialogue..you gotta scroll down a little to see it, but dangit if that isnt' what Mr. I sit to pee did..

Scross down a little..you'll see...

Has anyone told them yet that there is a price when you bite the hands that feed you? With Natalie,it is mostly a really bad idea!

"And where is Shania?"

Mind you, my car and house are Shania-free zones, and I change channels as soon as I hear her songs - just don't like them.

1995's "The Woman In Me" sold over 12 million copies
1997's "Come on Over" sold over 20 million copies
2002's "Up!" sold over 5.5 million copies (though the RIAA lists it as 11 million, since Up was a double album)

I think she is currently working on the next album.

"Actually I called one and told them that if they played one more Dixie Chicks song I was going to their competitor who had already yanked them. I never heard another one of their songs on that station again."

So that is your right!!!!! Since when must there be a "hatelist" just because some music group went belly up? Since when is anyone required to buy the cd's of any group or artist? I cannot believe the media is making such an issue of this. It too silly for words!

How many artists or groups have had hits, then disappeared, did every one of them appear on some sort of hate list? Typical liberals! Everything is a conspiracy, "hate" is an evil word to be used against anyone who disagrees with their opinion or agenda.

I checked my PDA - found my favorite wine list, reading list and grocery list, but no hate list. I hope there's a downloadable version soon.

LOL

I suspect the Natty one has a whine list on her PDA.

I don't hate the Ditzy Chix, I just don't like them, and I especially don't like them going overseas and damning our president and or country.

I've seens calls for a boycott of them, but in a Free Republic, you are free to call for anything. Doesn't mean you're going to get it, but you can call for it.

If the Natty One & the Chix want to blame anyone for their declining fortunes, then I suggest she/they look in the mirror.

I agree - I'd forgotten Darryl Worley's song until that post.....don't why I would forget though - I absolutely love it! I'd be willing to bet that the song the little fat man was thinking of....

Hate list?

We could send you the double super secret hate list but you will need the premium level decoder ring to read it. I sell these to those who wish them through my Liberian based web site.

KSJ here in Mobile said that if they had enough requests for their latest songs, they'd consider playing them. Obviously, they never received any requests because they're still not playing them.....

I remember the Chicks failed miserably in the 2004 Vote for Change (read: Please Elect Kerry) Tour. Even paired with James Taylor, they couldn't sell out 3500-seat venues.

What a dismal failure that Vote for Change tour was.

Yeah, it has the lyrics:

Do you remember,
How you felt that day...

But it doesn't imply support for the war in Iraq, like Matthews suggests.

Oops, did Chrissy lie, again?

Free Republic's and "Christian fundamentalist" country fans' "hate list."

Can some one post a link to the "Official" FreeRepublic hate list?

Inquiring minds.

I remember right after it happened Charlie Robison did everything he could to distance the sisters from Natalie and then the next thing you know, they jumped right into the middile of the whole brouhaha....I'm surprised he's still married to the little twit!

Charlie Robison nearly got gutted by association, thanks to his wife.

The Chicks are Hollywood wannabes. They forget who was buying their music. Shows you what can happen when you open the big old pie hole. Nats especially. Hey there is always a price, but people shouldn't gripe when the payments due! Fact of life!
