Found python in toilet (Norway)

A Kristiansand woman got the shock of her life during a visit to the family toilet on Tuesday.

Upon lifting the seat she spotted a two-meter (6.5 foot) long python coiled up in the bottom of the bowl.

"I was about to sit down and lifted the seat and there was something big and fat lying down there," Bente Mørch told newspaper VG.

The police were called and two officers equipped with shields managed to ease the large snake out of the toilet.

"When one of them lifted the seat he said: S**t! It's true, it is a snake," Mørch said.

The creature had definitely traveled through the sewer system to reach the Mørch household and police had contacted the Food Safety Authority to determine the animal's fate.

Yeah, sure bathrooms in homes are communal affairs; there for everybody to use, but not at the same time--but this is the first time in my life I ever heard the term "family toilet."

Perhaps it's a real Ferguson—“the king of bowls”, “the Stradivari of toilets”…

In Great Plains English, it's sort of like referring to that tall white appliance in the kitchen as "the family refrigerator."

Yikes! I have enough trouble when I find a spider in the bath.

Yikes! I have enough trouble when I find a spider in the bath.

I've never found pests in the bathroom, but I do have a problem when I wake up in the morning and wish to take a bath, and the (dry) bathtub is occupied by any one, or any, or all, of the cats--Abbie, Snow, Junior, Apricot, Floyd, Gordon, Harold, George, Ellie, and Leo--sleeping in it.

The rest of the house is equally clean; I can't figure out why the cats sometimes prefer to sleep at the bottom of the bathtub.

I wondered about that too, and I'm hoping one of the authentic Norwegians in Norway on the Norway ping list will sign in, and illuminate us.

Thank God it wasn't the endangered porcelain otter swimming in there!

Sounds like a Norwegian Brown. Beautiful scales. No threat at, all most likely. I expect it was either sleeping, or pining for the fjords.

When my cats were small, they considered the bathtub the equivelent of Disneyland. One outgrew it, the other one has not. He thinks the bath tub is a giant slide and can be heard in the evenings (when it is dry) sliding down the sides over and over again.

What's the deal? I keep my python in my toilet. I thought everyone did.

Somebody up above who obviously knows more about snakes than most of us, appears to have identified its possible species.

I wasn't aware pythons existed in Norway, and here I take all of this grief about bison in Norway.

People in Norway just don't see the bison because they're too preoccupied looking at the reindeer instead.

My guess would be warmth. Since I don't have a clue why your cats would feel that your tub is warmer than the rest of your house, it's your job to figure out why.

You have it easy. My problem is two large dogs, one half Weimaraner, half chocolate Lab and the other half black lab, half Great Dane, who always occupy my bed just when I want to go to sleep.

This is the first time I ever thought about it; the furnace IS located in the basement directly underneath the bathtub.

Hmmmm.
