Do you think Rush Limbaugh went too far in accusing Michael J. Fox of exaggerating the effects of Parkinson's disease? * 115743
VOTE HERE!!!
Yes. 84%
No. 14%
I don't know. 1.6%
I had to look into this one because the way the media reported it, it sounded like Rush did go too far. But then you find out that this is a tactic of Michael J. Fox that he has previously admitted using to enhance sympathy for his cause. Well, then that makes Rush's comment 100% accurate.

"Did Fox go too far in distorting Talent's stem cell research position??How 'bout if the GOP runs a campaign ad showing dead Americans slaughtered by a terrorist, with a soldier on camera saying, "If you vote for any Democrat, this is what you are voting for: dead Americans by the thousands."
Or how 'bout if the GOP runs a campaign ad showing the cut up little arms, legs and body parts of babies sucked from a woman's womb during an abortion: with a doctor in the background saying: "vote for any Democrat, and you are voting to chop up millions of babies each year."
Naturally, the Democrats would howl with derision, if the GOP did these things.
All of which proves that Michael J. Fox is a whole-ass of the highest magnitude. His kind of "advocate" makes me puke.
I had felt kinds sorry and sympathetic toward him --- UNTIL HE RAN that bogus ad.
Now I don't feel so sorry.

This was an
October Surprise P.R. trap.
Rush (and it's not his fault) walked into a media ambush.

The way the lamebrained MSM reported it it's no wonder the results are skewed.
Garbage in...garbage out.

I think he's handling it quite well by debating it square on. I haven't listened to Wednesday's show yet, but I heard bits and pieces in real time. He sounded quite righteously aggressive. Proof of the pudding was Inside Edition's playing of the video of Fox admitting he goes off his medication to gain sympathy points.

Read my post again...
Not only that, but I highly highly doubt ANY democrat can find the "cure" for his disease....no more than I found it believable that John Kerry could make people walk again. Now THAT was freakin' funny...
You obviously missed the whole sentence prior to my remark about it being "funny". My POINT was about John Kerry claiming he could make people walk again if they only voted for him. No where did I say anything about being disabled is funny.
Get a grip.

77% to 22% is a big improvement. But, I know we FReepers can do better and get that number under 75%. Rush deserves to be treated more fairly in this episode.

From page 247 of Michael J. Fox's autobiography
Lucky Man, about his appearance before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on September 28, 1999:
I had made a deliberate choice to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease, and the urgency we as a community were feeling, be seen as well as heard. For people who had never observed me in this kind of shape, the transformation must have been startling.
Since Mr. Fox has a history of deliberately skipping his medications for dramatic impact, it was natural for Mr. Limbaugh to suspect him of doing the same thing again.
