"You can see from this statement, that there is a "guilt factor" involved with accomodating them."

No more so than accomodating blacks at West Point. Muslims aren't admitted to West Point because the Army feels guilty. They are admitted because they meet the qualifications and legally cannot be excluded.

"Imagine this same approach applied to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor."

It was. Japanese fought with distinction in the US military after Pearl Harbor.

the difference there is - african americans were discriminated against in this country. there was no "false guilt" like there is regarding islam in america.

again, the WWII model is the correct one.

sure, we can be friendly with the peaceful muslims - both in the US and abroad. the same way we are friendly with the japanese and germans today. but that friendship occurs AFTER we have used war to defeat the radical elements in their societies, which are a significant percentage of their ranks and geopolitical power structure, and who make it plain that they wish to see the United States destroyed.

I'll support your position - tell me how we can screen these west point entrants to determine if they are not radicals? or, are you going to tell me we don't have the right to do that either - that the constitution offers protection to an american citizen who is perhaps an Al Qaeda or Hamas member. could we use that fact to exclude one of them from West Point? or can't we discriminate on that basis?

you want these muslims admitted to west point - fine, I want detailed FBI background checks on each and every one of them before that happens. I want the NSA tapping their phones. can we do that?

Japanese fought with distinction in the US military after Pearl Harbor.

If you've studied any military history at all you know that this is a piss poor analogy.

Those decorated Japanese/American troops fought against Germans, not other Japanese. These future officers may be called upon to fight their co-religionists. I'm glad that you feel that they can be trusted to do the right thing, nevermind that whole taqiyya thing...

There is something VERY important that you left out, though, Rokke.

The Japanese who were enlisted to fight for the United States in World War II were sent to the _European_ theather. They DID NOT fight other Japanese.

And, having said that, I postulate:
When the time comes - and it will - can we expect Islamic officers of our own forces to lead their troops against other Islamics?

Well, perhaps. But speaking for myself, I would not trust them in such a command.

I'm sure you would, right?

Japanese fought with distinction in the US military after Pearl Harbor.

These Japanese did not belong to the same "religion" as those they were fighting and they gave their loyalty to the US--not to allah or Hirohito.

Islam is a political religion and belonging to it should disqualify anyone to become a citizen in the US since the religion advocates killing and deceiving all infidels until "peace" (all convert to Islam). The religion is incompatible with the Constitution of the U.S. in too numerous ways to mention.
