WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) _ Muslims at the U.S. Military Academy numbered just two in 2001. This year, there are 32.
Now West Point has opened its first space dedicated to Muslims, a worship hall complete with a pulpit facing Mecca. The space officially opened Thursday.
"I knew the Army had a policy of religious tolerance, but I didn't know it was to this extent," said first-year Cadet Ahmed Moomin, 20, from the Maldives.
Until now, Friday prayers were held in an increasingly crowded first-floor office, said Imam Asadullah, the academy's Muslim cleric. The number of Muslim cadets jumped by 10 from last year.
The new hall is large enough for dozens of followers, he said.
West Point's Muslim leaders approached administrators last year for help.
"We live in a world where everyone is looking at the United States saying, 'You're anti-Islam.' But here at West Point, that's not what we do," West Point Chaplain Col. John Cook said.

I know quite a few Muslims personally. Not one of them has ever said a negative word about terrorists and terrorism. Not one of them has ever said a positive word either.

A simple study of Islamic history tells you that the religion is about conquering and subverting all who oppose Islam. These cadets may be simply stooges to get the door opened, or they are active subversives, either way, this is ridiculous!

It is absolutely amazing that so many people on this thread cannot get it through their heads that no matter how much they or anyone else hates Islam or Muslims THERE IS NO LAW IN THE UNITED STATES THAT ALLOWS WEST POINT, THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, OR ANY PUBLIC AGENCY TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST MUSLIMS. In post #26 of this almost 400 post thread I asked for someone to provide legal justification West Point could use to exclude qualified US citizen Muslims from attending the Military Academy. Nobody has. Do you know why? Can you guess? Here's a hint...IT DOESN'T EXIST! Don't blame West Point, the US Army or Donald Rumsfeld. They don't create laws. They follow laws. And that is exactly what they are doing in this case.

I didn't realize this was some kind of competition. What..are you proud of that fact? Why don't you take a breath and think for a minute. I've served in the military since 1985. Lady, I've lost more close friends and classmates fighting Islamic nutjobs than I care to relate to the likes of you. Your emotionally driven hysteria is exactly what we don't need in our war against Islamic nutjobs. If you really are a Christian woman with a brain (neither of which is obviously apparent in your posts), you need to take some time and pray before you spew.
I graduated WP 35 years ago and although I am still alive, I am not overly upset at this. I really don't believe cadets of the Islamic faith are going to become the terrorists of tomorrow. The only thing I am having trouble with is - what rank is Imam???
You exhibit a touching, innocent faith. You think Muslims are just like you. You assume that Islam is just another religion, not an all-encompassing ideology that is antithetical to western notions of governance and society.
The evidence is abundant and it is clear. Islam is on a worldwide Jihad made possible by the highest birth rates in the world. Islam will devour the effete dying nations of the west if not in one generation, then surely in three to five.

all polytheists, unbelievers and idolators (buddhists, hindus, zoroastrians and pretty much everybody else other than jews and christians) are subject to capital punishment unless they convert to islam. no dhimmi status. no jizya option.
no muslim is allowed to enter into an alliance with non-muslims against other muslims
women and children and property are religiously-sanctioned war booty (rape and murder ok)
anyone who insults the prophet is worthy of death.

They have literally been trying to kill me while I've been killing them. That means real bullets, real missiles, real bombs.
