Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Who recommended voting for dems?

Just because the pubbie isn't worthy of your vote doesn't mean that the dem is. Some pubbies are too much like the dem and since we are rejecting that, why would we vote for the dem.

Please think before jumping to rash conclusions.

"This isn't a cheering contest here. This is not about beating the other side even. Its about six years of votes during world war three."

He shoots ... he scores.

Still, if it were me, my algorithm would be: If polls are 10% or closer vote Lieberman, if Lieberman is way out in front, like 15-20 points up, vote for the GOP candidate to show the flag.

It's a very unusual race, and I agree the #1 imperative is to make sure that commie Lamont *never* gets near political office. Commie is not mere rhetorical flourish, it's his family history, look it up.

I don't live in Conn. anyway, so I don't have to make this decision, so you can relax, I have no say in the matter.

"after Iran nukes Israel"

We're not going to let that happen.

Lieberman is a stronger supporter of Israel, but from what I've read, Lamont supports Israel, in fact some leftists have complained about his Israel stance is too far right. Go figure.

First of all, I don't live in CT in case you weren't paying attention. I don't need to know what you do in the voting booth, however a vote for any democrat based on "he is not a choice" is same as giving DUmocrats control.

You can sell STUPID to talk shows but it's not selling here. You should change your party registration to DUmocrat while you are at it.

Look at 1950, 1958, 1930, 1966, 1974.

Presidential party taking on big losses in Congress leads to loss of White House... 1994 was an exception to the rule.

Read this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1722899/posts

"You are clear what I'm saying here, right? That two years of gays-in-the-military, nationalized-healthcare moonbattery turned the Congress over to a conservative agenda. You don't really deny that do you?"

Those two years also gave us one extremist liberal vote on the Supreme Court, the biggest tax increase in our history, that was not repealed, and a setback in Somalia that encourage Bin Laden to eventually conduct 9/11.

That 2 years harmed America ... Is that your plan? Make America go through hell?

I like that one too. However, RINOs are RINOs in primary elections. In the general election they are just Republicans.

"LOL....as if you people have any power."

Then why are you and the talking heads getting your panties in a twist over us?

If we are so inconsequential, why is this the topic of a 600 post thread?

If we have no power, how did we toss a SC Justice, two senate leaders with 50 years in the senate between them and force the retirement of many more and cause the defeat of yet more? If we have no power, how did we force the repeal of a payraise that we passed with the collusion of the Dems and pubbies, the governor, the supreme court, and the legislature?

The war isn't over but the casualties of the corrupt are piling up. Colin had his hand in that house cleaning and will continue to be an ally as we fight to clean up the GOP. We need a clean and conservative GOP to offer an alternative to the people.

I say, if you can't change the Republican Party in the primaries, you have no chance of creating, and empowering, a new party. I'll take the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush over the self-righteous, warm fuzzy of being a member of a "pure", but powerless, party any day of the week.

"Anybody who thinks we will EVER get the power back once the Democrats get it back is a fool."

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!

Did you forget that Bush lost to clinton and we took back the House 2 years later. Then we took back the Senate. And how did was it done? BY BEING CONSERVATIVE! BY RULING AS CONSERVATIVES!

Now it's in jeopardy. Why? BECAUSE THE GOP STOPPED RULING AS CONSERVATIVES! They put THEIR PERSONAL AGENDA AND WELL BEING AHEAD OF OURS AND THE NATION!

Quit fearmongering. We're hitting the reset switch on the GOP. We're tuning it up. We're cleaning it up. We are not cutting and running from anything. We'll be back and back in charge in two years. This is not the 1950s and we are not the GOP of that time either.

Because we're trying to keep YOU from giving ammunition to the left.

Duh; anybody can figure that out.

Did you forget about 9-11?

Are you really this ill-informed? I am surprised; I had heard you were negative, but apparently you're out of touch with FACTS and REALITY, too.

"A center right coalition is what wins."

Wins what? What do you win when the pols that win won't advance conservative ideals and the liberty that this Republic was founded on?

"Winning' for winning's sake alone means nothing.

Anybody who believes that is a fool.

I cannot believe you are here on this site advocating LOSING.

What a fool.

How about the Supreme Court? Probably the most important national events of the last two years are the appointments and confirmations of Justices Roberts and Alito.

The two oldest members of the current court are Stevens (late-80s) and Ginsburg (mid-70s, and in poor health). There is a very good chance that there will be another vacancy within the next two years. What are the chances of a confirmation, if the Senate is controlled by Democrats?

LOL

So rather than let a few people comment about what they think is a great article and let the thread die a quick death, you bump it up to almost 600 posts.

And you call me a fool? LOL

Bush only lost to Clinton thanks to 3rd party pukes and 100%ers. If other states could get their act together and send conservatives to DC we wouldn't be having this discussion.
