You gotta hand it to him, its a pretty effective way to shut up your critics.
At what point does the danger to the nation presented by a press hostile to the leadership justify these type of actions?
We may soon find out in our own nation.

Russia also is N.Korea's shield from the UN in disarming!!
Russia also is a supporter of Iran going nuclear, WHY????
Russia also is selling arms to the wild eyed oil dictator of Venezuela.
There is this appearance that Russia will take out even her own brother if a dollar can be made.

"My best memories is the very nice peoples I meet but also some of the shocking things I see in America," says Borat, "For example, womens is allowed, in America, to drive a car. It is crazy. We say in my country to let a woman drive a car is like to let a monkey fly a plane. Very dangerous, yes?"

Oh? I'm not surprised.
in the past I also have indecent offer from famous NTV journalist, I'm rather tolerant, I just was to die laughing :))))) But I suppose if he showed his intentions before they drink some vodka he would be alive!

Russia trades its support in exchange for US support on its international issues.
That's the case of North Korea.
Russia also is a supporter of Iran going nuclear, WHY????
Russian nuclear industry presses for new contracts - they want money. And probably, they can't afford not having it - not many customers.
Russia actualy doesn't build a bomb for Iran - but it seeks to be a successful mediator -> authority in Aran world -> influence.
Russia build a light water reactor - not helping Iran to enrich fissile materials to the weapons grade.
Iran's technology is from Pakistan which is an US's ally. Russia also is selling arms to the wild eyed oil dictator of Venezuela.
Venezuela doesn't threaten Russia and it offers money. A pity we have a shortage of Saiga shotguns for public because of Chavez's order. Also not many customers for arms - Russian military orders nothing.

I don't understand what you wanna tell me ???
Barat is from Kazakhstan(comic from London) I'm from Moscow(Russia) :)))
BTW Kazahks are very angry with Barat, for his xenophobia towards them

There is this appearance that Russia will take out even her own brother if a dollar can be made. It really depends on how much money one has. The nuclear and arms industry of Russia really have little options.
Anyway, we have capitalism now. "Any substantial fortune was got in a criminal way" - Karl Marx.

Let's delve a little deeper into the N.Korean recent history.
When WWII ended Stalin and US had an agreement to leave the control of the Korean peninsula as one country. Well Stalin changed his mind, boycotted the UN and refused to leave N.Korea. In 1950, Stalin made a secret pact with China to send down 120,000 + bodies into N.Korea, while Stalin secretly gave air support and oversaw the war.
Stalin died and a line was drawn that maintains to this day is the separation of the Korean peninsula leaving N.Korea frozen in time.
Now along come the collapse of the Soviet style communism and our very own Clintons adopted the N.Korean peninsula with a deal to provide them with food, oil, and assistance in building nuclear energy.
Well while our leaders were focused upon becoming the world loved leaders, and enhancing their own personal economy, they ignored the mass starvation of the people of N.Korea, even though we tax payers were funding food shipments to feed those people.
So to continue to use that piece of real estate ruled with the Soviet style iron fist is NOT something that gives Putin a look of freedom. Putin's willingness to use as international tool the former Soviet style oppression as trade for US support makes Putin hands very very dirty.

At least "Borat Sagdiyev" makes people in the West aware of Central Asia for the first time. I was stationed near Karshi, Uzbekistan. Central Asian countries are lost hidden world to most Americans. I only knew of Tashkent and Samarkand in school. I thought Uzbekistan would become U.S. friend, then there was Andijon.
It's not like East vs. West anymore. So complicated.

there are much differences between Kazakhstan and other central-asia states. Kazakhstan is on of the richest post soviet state with highly educated population and have huge industry(metallurgy, oil&gas, machinery)

Actually, Iran's nuclear technology and working nuclear reactor is from U.S., it was given to Shakh regime which had tensions with USSR.
Since Shakh regime was overthrown by revolution, Americans changed their mind about nuclear Iran, but they cannot take their reactor away, so they are remaining silent about it to save face.

How can he? I think N.Korea acts on its own and I have no clue it's going otherwise.

Putin has maintained a close relationship with the ruler Il, sent him horses for his birthday a few years back.
Putin's representative at the UN continuously rejects any kind of pressure or action to free the people of N.Korea.

I think the Anna P.-Journalist really was a traitor. At least Russia knows how to treat its traitors. We celebrate traitors in America, or least give them full tenure at a local university.

So you would prefer to live under fascism where journalists are murdered for their criticism of the leadership, rather than here, where we have freedom of speech?

The main topic of her articles were alleged atrocities allegedly comitted by the Russian military or its allies in Chechnya.
I don't know whether that was true or not but Russian public ignored her articles in general because it had and has little sympathy for such matters.
AFAIK, her role can be compared to Jane Fonda's during the US Vietnamneese expedition, the difference is that JF is alive.
