The FReeper Canteen is asking all FReepers to please keep 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub in your prayers.
He has suffered a massive stroke and heart attack.
We know that many of you will have questions, but as of right now we don't have any further information.
Thank you
I was just telling Gracie how much I miss Tonkin's greeting every day: Good evening to the Ladies from the Men of the Canteen.
The fireside photos... the flowers... the kitties.
Good evening, Brian, wherever you are. We are so grateful for all you gave and we won't ask more, but that you will receive the love and care that God gives so freely.
I miss his beautiful posts too, Dita...though he didn't have time in his busy life to respond sometimes, his spirit was in the Canteen and made it a better place. *sigh*
Prayers for God to keep him close and give him courage and strength for what he must go through.
Amen, LUV W.
You know, we had a special relationship with Mr. Tonkin, as we rejoiced together over the occasional response.
It is very different without him at the Canteen...
Yes, we did. We relished each and every personal note from him.
Yes, it's very different....there is no rudder to the ship.
Well...I saw this and I was hoping that there was something new....I guess no news is..in this case...not bad news...just not good news either.
Sending thoughts and prayers for Tonk..today and always...
We miss you my FRiend...there are no others like you...
Still thinking about Tonk too, especially with MCM's untimely passing. Seems like too many good ones are leaving us....
OH I didn't know!
I have been out of town since Friday...
Just DAMN!
Thank you for telling me...I need to go look for the thread...
Nothing new...that we know of. I am sure that if there is some change, the family will let us know. Just keep those prayers going up for him. I know he can feel the love coming from here.
It is too quiet around here without his rants against Kerry and his love for the troops. We need his passion!
God bless you Tonk and keep you in His tender care.
Prayer BTTT...
It's cold outside.
But it is warm in here, on this thread.
Tonk, thinking about you, and praying for a miracle.......
There are as many stories about him as there are people on this forum. He is with us as long as we keep his name alive and remember him and what he did for us and for his beloved Coast Guard and for the troops that he defended with every breath that he took.
Maybe that's the prayer we should be praying... For Mr. Tonk to be happy.
He may not physically heal, and it would be presumptuous to declare that someone else has emotional or spiritual healing to do.
Mr. Tonk (I love that title of respect!)is level headed and realistic. he knows how he's doing. From here on, I will be praying for happiness for him, whether it comes from returning to heaven, or feeling our love, or from numerous other ways that I am not wise enough to guess at.
For you happiness, Tonk! You have brought so much to so many other people! :-D
Thank you for the ping, 'Dita.
At first, I choked up when I saw it, but then I could feel the joy as more people have gathered here to continue to prays for Mr. Tonk and surround him with love.
I love your thought...just prayers for "happy"...
I always have called him Tonk..out of respect...
I just couldn't call him Brian...even when I wrote to him.
(My mother, RIP, would've slapped the back of my head if I called him Brian:-)
"There are as many stories about him as there are people on this forum. He is with us as long as we keep his name alive and remember him and what he did for us and for his beloved Coast Guard and for the troops that he defended with every breath that he took."
That, is nothing but the truth...
I so agree with you..
You were raised well. :-)
Continued happy prayers for Mr. Tonk.
It alarms some people to see activity on this thread or be pinged, as "something may have happened," but I notice that the prayer postings continue as the Spirit so moves people.
He seemed so shy for the first year or so that I was here and posting on the Canteen. He started very gradually posting personal responses to some of us. Then, finally, one day he posted a picture of himself and CG buddies and signed his post, Brian. I thought that was sweet.
So, sometimes I refer to him as Brian and sometimes as Mr. Tonkin, which I think is very fitting. God knows his real name.
I like your thoughts about praying for happiness, Pinz. I think that's perfect.
