To: 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub Dear Tonk:
I would just like to honor my father here. He died October 4, 2006 of cancer. He was 87 years old. He was a 5 year veteran of the Coast Guard, serving in World War II (Pacific theatre). He was a decent, loving man with a wife and two children (my sister and I).
His funeral was Saturday with the Coast Guard proving an honor guard. His coffin was draped with the American flag which was presented to my mother at the end of the burial service.
It is the first close family member I have lost and the pain is terrible. For all of you on this board who have lost one or both of their parents, I now know how you feel.
My father loved this country and his family and I will honor his memory forever.
