George W Bush may be backed by Christian fundamentalists but in his home state of Texas, Islam is the latest big draw. The Bible belt is transferring its allegiance to the Qur’an because, for many erstwhile Christians, believe it or not, the church is too liberal.

Eric was a Baptist preacher before he became a Muslim 14 years ago. Now he prays five times a day – even in the middle of watching a football game. His wife, Karen, also a convert, is covered from head to toe in the traditional Muslim burka. Islam, says Eric, ‘is everything I wanted Christianity to be’. His mother has found it hard to come to terms with her son’s conversion and believes he will return to the Christian faith: ‘Then he will be a dynamic preacher.’ Eric says: ‘Maybe some day she’ll embrace Islam.’

Women are also becoming followers of Muhamed. Yasmine (previously Mindy) arranged a marriage for herself and has three children. Islam, she says is ‘the solution to a lot of the prevailing evils: drugs, adultery, fornication…’ Converts often see the religious laws more clearly than those who have been brought up as Muslims and Yasmine can spot a mistake at 20 paces. She believes that she has a unique opportunity to help people who are born into the religion get back to the fundamentals.

Catherine has been a Muslim for two weeks. She came from a privileged background – private school followed by a career in PR. Now the established Muslim women guide her through the purification rituals as she washes before prayer and removes her nail varnish.

That's the problem lies in the first place. He wants a religion that is according to him, not Him.

Sounds like Eric was a preacher the way many talk show callers to Rush claim to have "Always been a Republican, but no more."
As for the self loathing privileged, they always go for these cults. Look at Jonestown or Heavensgate. Weren't the Heavensgate folks computer programmers that picked a psychotic to lead them back to the mother ship? And what about Scientologists or Moonies?
This is the latest fad among those that are smart but never learned to think.

There are well over 200,000 Hispanics who have converted to Islam in the states. Islam is working hard to sign them up. There was a thread on this the other day.

Huntsville, Texas is the center of the TDC (Texas Department of Corrections) and most Texas prisons are in Walker County, There is a Muslim house where they try to convert the prisoners.
They target the most violent scum as they know insane people are more likely to join and do the CULTS bidding.

A friend of mine was telling me that his son came home from Junior High and told of his liberal school teacher asking the class the question... "what is wrong with going through the actions of Islam such as the praying 5 times a day...etc if it would stop terrorism and you knew in your heart they are only actions and not your true beliefs?"

And asked the class "would the price of a prayer mat be worth stopping terrorism?"

The teacher went on to explain that it was worth it and explained to the students why.

Since America is so much larger than the UK...it wouldn't be as apparent if a significant number of Americans became Muslims..and started influencing the life around them accordingly.

Remember, the al-Queda handbook that was found in Afghanistan said..that the goal is to bring down America from within....which talking people into converting..and then having them enter schools, businesses...and politics...seems to be the perfect plan.
