Marijuana Delays Alzheimer’s, Alters Cause of Symptoms

A new study shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may preserve a crucial neurotransmitter, and so stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, according to scientists at the VW Microbus Institute for Herbal Research.

Those afflicted with Alzheimer’s suffer from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills.

The study showed that when an Alzheimer’s patient smokes pot, the active ingredient preserves the neurotransmitter and blocks clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition.

“The dope smoking Alzheimer’s patient still suffers from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills,” according to one unnamed scientist, “but it’s no longer a terrible disease that’s causing the symptoms, so you don’t have that stigma of being a victim.”

The sad thing is there probably is an institute like this somewhere...and it is getting your tax dollars for its research. :)

No, this is satire of a real study.

Every day over the first half year of this year, I visited a lockdown ward of "residents," as they are called. You're right, there's nothing fun or funny about Alzheimers or dementia.

“The dope smoking Alzheimer’s patient still suffers from memory loss, impaired decision-making,"

In short, he turns into a Democrat.

I'm not usually such a 'wet blanket' (I even have a bit of 'gallows humor'). Maybe it is because I experienced this up close and personal but this is not funny. I watched a warm, bright intelligent, woman go through paranoia and delusions to slip very quickly into a basically vegetative state where she stayed for about 14 months (whole process about 18 to 24 months).

I also watched my father take care of her, cry over her, and rage at the world because of it.

One thing I will say is that Hospice is one of the best things I have ever run across. They were absolutely wonderful people. I urge everyone to give to them.

I fully agree. I'm not able to be a Hospice volunteer but I've thought of going back just to help feed someone. It's that long walk down the corridors, the smells ... selfish, I know.

I knew that marijuana had medicinal effects.

It is also good for hallitosis. People with hallitosis smoked two joints a day and after a week, nobody could tell they had hallitosis any more.

Certainly a top level scientific think tank....."hey man, duh'ya think if we smoke enough of this bud we'll ever die"?

I just finished reading a study done by the al-Qaeda Institute Of Airline Travel that claims that C4 placed into Nikes can cure stinky feet.

The actual study was by the Scripts Institute. Pretty much the same conclusion, without the joking.

The story appeared on CNN via Reuters and on Fox

If there is something in hemp that helps, let drug companies extract and refine this, for maximize the results, for physicians descriptions, just like any other beneficial drug, to be taken orally, or needle, or patch.

That's a far cry from laying marijuana open to America's mass market.

You freaked me out. I thought you meant the C4 and stinky Nikes thing. I heard Rush talking about the marijuana thing today so it surprised me to see Scrappleface doing a satire on it. It's getting tough to do comedy in this country anymore.
