According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Why doesn't Nancy Pelosi ever criticize this guy? Or, is it her preference to reserve her ire for reserved, genteel drunks with a predelection for pderasty.
I'm in about the same "media" situation that you are, assuming in addition that you don't subscribe to a newspaper.
If you are able to get it, CBS RADIO network has an extended news broadcast on at 8AM (Eastern time, at least around here) that a few stations air in entirety. It tends to be much more balanced politically than anything I've seen from other Old Media outlets, though it's still left-leaning.
I find that catching that broadcast most mornings, plus keeping on FR, is all the news I need to know. (I have no desire to be involved in local politics... and tend to be rather ignorant in that area)
In any event, my blood pressure is just fine ... I got rid of newspapers over 20 years ago, and haven't had on-air TV for almost 10 years now (we mostly rent or borrow old movies from the library for our TV fare) ... and very few people would even try to make a claim that I'm not extremely knowledgeable when it comes to national or international affairs.
Tell your kids to try it sometime for a year or so!
I am VERY concerned, especially with all of the attacks on Diebold by the democrats, that they are going to attempt this again in some vulnerable distrcts, and will explain the unexpected voting results on "disgusted evangelicals".
I beleive that was a story from LAST FRIDAY. Since then, Matthew issued a correction, saying that ABC misunderstood what he had said.
He SAID that what he told ABC was that the pages were told Foley was a "bit odd", which I think was code for "he's gay, so watch out boys".
Nobody could say that directly, because you'd be called a homophobe. But you have to warn them:
See, we always warn our daughters to watch out for older men that pay too much attention to them. It's drilled into them their entire lives (or it should be).
But most people don't think to warn their boys of older men -- it would confuse them since we send them off to boy scouts and other activities where there are men we want them to admire and learn from.
Therefore, when you put those boys in a situation where there is a homosexual man who is a predator, those boys don't know what to watch out for, and they can be taken advantage of.
So, someone decided to warn the pages to protect them, but they had to do it in code so as not to be called a homophobe.
I hope not. As a Christian I fear it.

When I quit watching the evening Fox shows last year, my BP dropped 20 points, and I am NOT kidding. I monitor the news on Fox during the day when something important is going on, but otherwise I try to stay away from too much. I also will NOT watch Shep Smith, who is on my blacklist for his horrible Katrina coverage and more abysmal coverage of the Israeli-Labanese conflict a few months ago. He gins up hysteria at the drop of a hat, and I have no use for him.

First of all you have completed misinterperted what the article states.
#1 the night and show in question would be 10/3, not 10/4, and
#2 the article is referring to the title of the Fox News show (Special Report with Brit Hume), not stating that Brit Hume himself interviewed this Mike Rogers person.
Yes, I know they always try to cheat, but I am continually amazed at how much effort they put into it.

You know.....reading how upset CREW was when the FBI told them their emails were NOT ENOUGH TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION (Picture & Birthday)----it now makes sense that these kids DID SET UP FOLEY....with a little push from CREW.
I'm still not seeing the big picture.
