According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

I'm not sure if that's a threat, or just some friendly advice. What exactly is it that I've done wrong? I don't believe I've used any obscenity (well, I may have called that kid punk-a**, and if that offended anyone, I apologize), and I don't see "Must agree with Mrs. Nopardons" as a prerequisite for posting, so what is it I'm doing wrong? I would add that I've recieved plenty of support through private messages...mostly due to the fact that people don't want to be acosted by you for disagreeing with you publically.
As far as "family friendly", if FR is for adults, why is it supposed to be "family friendly"? Again, please point me in the direction of the policy stating that its for adults only.

Ah, yes, the poll that turned out to be a Flash poll. Flash polls being basically junk polls as they don't separate demo's, party identification etc....It's just whomever picks up the phone when they call. Could be 380 Dems and 60 Reps and 75 Indy's and they'd run with it.
I was pretty fixated on that earlier today, FOX from what I heard wisely backed off probably after so many of us cried foul at the absurdity of 20 seats lost if Hastert GOES, and 50 if he STAYS.
You know, I actually like Garrett. But at times like these they all want the big scoop and they are all involved in the "drama" and while common sense told all of us that 20-50 was extreme, they are just enveloped in the moment and can't see it. They lose detachment.
I think SHep is dumb. I don't like him. The only news guy I like is Brit, whom I worship, and Kraut whom I love.

And yet.. it should make me sad -- saad that anyone could experience joy and excitement and prosperity in a time when... when...anti-business, anti-capitalist Democrat Party is on about more serious matters than reducing poverty and increasing prosperity across all income groups and demographics in America.

I was floored when he reported this and holding my breath because they had just announced the Hastert press conference. For a few minutes I thought he was going to cave and resign. I think Major Garrett must have thought so too and contributed to the drama of the moment.
Your scenario has a few clunkers.
For a start, the parents refused to let the emails be used in an investigation. And I do believe Hastert responded. And he in the emails was pushing boundaries but did nothing to investigate.
Nobody has said what Foley did was alright. But it wasn't a hanging offense, not even illegal from what I have read. And the parents didn't want a big public scene. And the kid wasn't hurt.
I think you may be succumbing to the hyperbole.
