In the wake of school shootings in Wisconsin, Colorado and Pennsylvania during the last two weeks, a Wisconsin state legislator said he plans to introduce legislation that would allow teachers, principals, administrators and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons.
Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Bellevue, said Wednesday that, while his idea may not be politically correct, it has worked effectively in other countries.
"To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table," he said.
"Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin."
Lasee stressed that the measure would hinge on school staff members getting strict training on the use of the weapons.

My experience has been just the opposite. Where do you teach? If it's one of the big three above me then that's a valid sampling. But if it's a smaller or rural district then your sample is not significant. Look at the curriculums for the big districts! DANG...rife with UN globalism. The International Bacchalaureate Program is literally a creation of the UN. Designed to further UN goals in our brightest kids. Look at the antigun curriculum programs. Brady Bunch start to finish....and worse. Look at the textbooks that have been adopted for American History and American Government. Tell me the stance on the Second Amendment? I think you can't see the forest for the trees.

Oh, it WAS a Wisconsin rep!! How cool! Got to squeeze in a letter (or something) of support somehow!

We agree. The students and the other teachers would be better protected, too.
"My husband and I both teach high school and have concealed carry permits. I would feel MUCH better if we could carry in school.
I carry everywhere else, so why do my 2nd amendment rights have to end at the schoolhouse door ? "

I would vote yes on the poll just because I am pro gun and pro people taking care of themselves. But in practice, I think the average teacher packing heat in the classroom, would be a terrible idea. That's why I am not voting.

Good point.
" recruit future teachers from the ranks of combat experienced returning veterans.
Recruiting teachers from the folks who are combat experienced SEALs, Rangers, or Marines is an ideal scenario..."

It is legal for anyone with a license to carry in at least three states: Utah, Oregon, and Pennsylvania, and possibly California. So if teachers are in the habit of going berserk and shooting kids with guns, we would have heard about it by now in those states.
Your objections are the same as those raised by by those who are opposed in principle to the right-to-carry.

I voted yes.
Schools should have trained, armed, and ANONYMOUS adults throughout the school. The perp should have to guess if the librarian, janitor, band teacher, or whoever else is on campus has a gun and will shoot your ass dead if you go on a rampage. Uniformed security guards are vulnerable because the perp knows who he has to kill first and then everybody else is defenseless.
The principal and maybe assistant principal should be the only ones who know who the carriers are. There should be standards to be met, plus the principal should be able to withhold or pull their "clearance" at his discretion.
That's the kind of school that I would want my children to go to.

There was a thread on FR a while back that described a terrorist attack on a school bus.
The three adults on the bus were the driver and two parents. They were each armed with some version of the Israeli UZI.
The driver and parents killed the terrorists with the loss of one parent killed and one wounded. None of the kids were physically hurt.
Given the choice, I'd take my chances with the UZI over a phone call from the police that my kid was killed at school.
To: Ditter
Thanks for voting.
The average liberal NEA teacher is afraid of guns and would never go to the trouble of learning at a range how to shoot safely nor take the time to pass the background checks.

(That's taxes, not Texas. I have no beef with TX. NJ has the highest property taxes in the nation.)

The perps should be forced to think twice.
Does the librarian...assistant principal have a permit, immediate access to a gun, and the training to shoot straight ?
Having the whole campus unarmed is not working now.
