Numerous, if not all, studies show that your supposition is wrong. Here's one:

Insofar as the GOP leadership is concerned: If they knew about what Mark Foley was doing and did nothing to stop it, they should resign -- or be forced out if they do not resign. That's what I'm "talking about."
Well getting a BJ while discussing troop deployments on the phone with congressional leaders wasn't enough to make another individual resign either.
The content was disturbing enough to the child for him to say Foley should "slow down" because he was not yet 18. There were some pretty sick things said in the messages posted before the boy turned 18.
"There are IMs from before the boy turned 18 (he clearly states this in the logs) that are far from innocent."
I agree. The Page that WAS NOT underage and was not a page at the time of the IM was far from innocent. He enjoyed the attention and deliberately encouraged Foley to continue the dialog as the page knew he had hit the jackpot.
He is a opportunist that saved IMs to use to further his career by blackmailing politicians.
However, this whole thing (and all the other over-blown scandals) is having a 'Reverse Effect' on me: I'm sooooooooo angry at the sheer, blatant, no pretence of impartiality, in-your-face, assistance of the MSM in pumping this $h!t onto the American airwaves.
No network not even fox is talking about this... MSNBC had what they called an IM that said the person foley was talking too admitted to being under 18.... But what does that mean... Was he in fact 18 the next day... who knows... but the media is not biting on this.
Big media might have it's nosed rubbed in this over the next 24 hours. Patience.
Either way... 18 or almost 18 is far from 16 unless we are talking about multiple party IM's ... Who knows... anyway MSM is not biting on this 18 year old headline.

You should quit supporting those northeastern socialists and use Blue Bell instead.
The MSM including FOX will slowly start turning the story over the next couple weeks so as people can forget the original "scoop" and then they can presume to take the high road.
And we also know that the the IMs that are the basis of the controversy occurred after the "kid" turned 18.
Tyson Vivian says that when he was a Page in 1996/97 Congressman Foley didn't speak to him. But shortly after he left Capital Hill Foley inniated contact with instant messages. He said he was 17 at the time, a minor. It went on for years. Gulp! 40 to 50 instant messages.
After he was 19, he was invited to Foley's house and brought another former Page with him to make sure "things didn't get out of hand"..
The other former Page, Josh Abrons tells CNN he doesn't recall alcholol being present.
Vivian and Abrons say "nothing inappropriate happened"..
There's more...but bottom line is they didn't report this contact to authorities, but they sure weren't concerned about things being "inappropriate" enough to stay away from him!
Tyson Vivian tells CNN he is a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT...Abron considers himself "INDEPENDENT"..

There is a huge difference in the MSM spinning this as 16 year old and pedophilia and a close to or at 18 year old which is nothing more then a Bill Clinton. One is a crime the other isn't the only thing good about it is the Republican Resigned in Disgrace and the Former President lied to America and shot us all the bird....
Yet none of them explain the reason for the subtle change in terms, they fail mention Brian Ross was called out on his lie that the IMs were with a minor.
