If the facts are as we now them right now (and more aren't being manufactured as we post), what is the crime here?
The Times front page quoted someone saying he was known for reaching out to the pages. They probably thought that was the height of humor.
"finally, Mark Foley wants you to know he is a gay man."
And will eventually reveal the various Washington movers and shakers he has had affairs with in the past.

I agree. The word sexual contact with minors was continually used. We already know that part of his sick MO was to chase after the pages, after they were finished with the program. I think there might be more to drop in that regard, based on what I just heard his attorney say.

Howlin, any subordinate, minor or not, who received those IMs qualifies in my book. I don't care whether the IMs were solicited or not. The conduct was still inappropriate, at best, on Foley's part.
What charges? According to D.C. law a 16-year old is an adult, and what Foley did, however repugnant, was not neither "child abuse" nor illegal. Perhaps they can use stalker laws, but I doubt it.

OMGosh, reminds me what my mother called me about today. "Honey, I was cleaning out some things and found this, this, and this journal you kept in junior high. On one page you mention "boys name"." OMGosh! I had a panic attack right there on the phone. Mom!!! Gee, better state that I am a woman at this point. Still not sure what else is in the journal right now.
Going from memory here, but didn't he say something about drinking at his house, because of the under age.....
And if they weren't in the employ of the United States Congress, what then? If they were of the age of consent, what laws have been broken?
