UPDATE: I just got a call back from Ray. His surgery was Wednesday, and he did have a lesion on his brain, which they removed. He is going to his daughter's up north for followup treatment (radiation and physical therapy).
I told him I posted this on FR, and your responses, and he got choked up. You all mean so much to him. He is sounding pretty good, but is still understandably a little disoriented.
He was on his way to my house, and a highway patrol was nearby, and he said it was still rather fuzzy, but by the time they got to him he was slumped over the steering wheel. Ray said coming to my house that evening probably saved his life, as he would have been home alone when it happened.
Thanks so much for your prayers, and I will continue to update all of you.

Am glad he has the love of family and friends to help him through all this; and I do hope he will soon be back posting. . .but sounds like a bit of a 'road ahead' to travel in the meantime. . .and that is okay; because there will be many 'prayers up' here at Free Republic for Common Tator to help him along the way. ;^)
