Jeb phoned me, and said he is moving to Jupiter Island to run for this seat. Foley's name will remain on the ballot. If Foley "wins," then Jeb will be sworn in next January. See how easy that was?

What is your view on where this seat sits in terms of vulnerability now?

Florida Elections Law:

(4)(a) In the event that death, resignation, withdrawal, removal, or any other cause or event should cause a party to have a vacancy in nomination which leaves no candidate for an office from such party, the Department of State shall notify the chair of the appropriate state, district, or county political party executive committee of such party; and, within 5 days, the chair shall call a meeting of his or her executive committee to consider designation of a nominee to fill the vacancy. The name of any person so designated shall be submitted to the Department of State within 7 days after notice to the chair in order that the person designated may have his or her name on the ballot of the ensuing general election. If the name of the new nominee is submitted after the certification of results of the preceding primary election, however, the ballots shall not be changed and the former party nominee's name will appear on the ballot. Any ballots cast for the former party nominee will be counted for the person designated by the political party to replace the former party nominee.

If Mark Foley's name remains on the ballot then I think it's Lean to Likely Dem. I don't think 50%+1 (including the vast majority of conservatives) will vote for the name of a pedophile, even if it's a euphemism for 'special election'. If Mark Foley's name gets replaced I think it's probably weak Lean GOP, unless the Pubbie is very well-funded, in which case it should be strong Lean GOP.

YIKES.
Thanks for the ping, I think. I was hoping this was just a smear. So is that a seat lost for sure or was he up for reelection this year?

even if it's a euphemism for 'special election'.

It wouldn't be a euphemism for special election, there could be a separate special election simultaneous with the general election. The Special Election would have the real candidate's name on it. You would then coordinate the campaign message for the candidate to say that, oh by the way, Mark Foley on the other ballot is really me here on the Special Election.

But still two separate elections at the same time.

Per Florida law, foley's name will stay on the ballot, but that doesn't stop the GOP from getting another candidate and also putting it out to the GOTV effort can rectify it, despite your doom and gloom.

"One article says the newspaper interviewed the kid last Nov. but decided not to run the story til now......seems Foley would have heard rumors or something if this kid and his handlers were out shopping the story."

Can you find the link? Now this kid was not the same kid that he sent sexually explicit PM's to....correct? How long did the house ethics committee know about this? Something smells here. If this was something the dems held on to until now..they put other children potentially in danger for political purposes and the American people would find that despicable.

Foley is slime. That said, why would anyone hold back the story if it were an obvious case of child sexual abuse? Were they not giving this pervert the chance to contact other children, thereby putting them in danger?

I am NOT deflecting blame. If true, Foley is to blame and be punished appropriately. But the people (dems, media???) that kept this under wraps for any amount of time due to best political timing should be locked up for conspiracy, aiding and abetting or something to that effect.
