Just breaking on CNN
I knew I was right. Just a bitter individual who is nothing in life and needs to yell and scream at people on FREEPERS for some reason. ROTFLMAO!!!!
As soon as I logged on this morning, the first article posted was that former pages knew about this for years. He also stated that they thought he was a flake and they knew what he was doing but never felt threatened so they never reported it. I am around teenage boys all the time, they are not stupid and most are quite street smart. As I said before, I would be furious that my son would respond to such nonsense, it is not a joke. Apparently lots of boys thought it was, I could see it, getting the messages and laughing about was an a$$ he was. I am really so disgusted by the fact that a man, a man who I saw just recently on BOR talking about child preditors and the need to enact tough punishment. It's scary that someone can be so resolute to your face and in the meanwhile be getting off on young boys. I am hoping, and not for Foley's sake, but for the sake of the boys, that this never went beyond messages.
Thank you so much. As a parent, I can promise you this would have hit the papers 10 months ago. Are people so concerned with stature or afraid of embarrassment that they would let this guy off the hook so as not to ruin their kids chances to be involved in goverment in the future? We found out that a neighbor and friend of ours had molested his daughter. The wife/mother wass waffling about the daughter pressing charges, even though the daughter wanted to. My husband went to the police to ask if there was anything he could do to get him off the street. Nothing, the charges had to come from the family. My husband told them, if you don't press charges, he will put a sign on our front lawn telling everyone that a child molester lived across the street. He is now doing 30 years. It makes you wonder how many other preditors are out there and people know but for fear of their own embarrassment or future don't say anything.
Sorry, but it ain't gonna be that easy to brush aside the question, "What did they know, and when did they know it?" Already there are conflicts in the public pronouncements about Leadership's reaction to Foley's "transgressions." Yes, the whole truth must and will be ascertained about other email communications (besides the one instance referenced in the press release) and there is probably more to be revealed as to Foley's "activity."
from his friends and some ex-friends.
If you're still here, you may want to read this article: Foley and the Blame Game. I may not have been wrong about dirty tricks in that first post after all.

I think the legal system has come a long way in protecting children. 20-30 years ago, this would have been swept under the rug. I hope he pays to the fullest extent of the law and there are no exception made for his political status or because of who he knows.
I am glad that justice is being served for your neighbor. I am glad that your husband inteceded on her behalf. That was nice. I will pray that she has emotional healing.
One more thing, by the way - there is a Judge in Corpus Christi, Texas that has come down hard on pedofiles. Once they are released from prison, he makes them put a sign in their yard that says "Sex Offender lives here". The penalty doesn't end in prison for those offenders.
I cannot really disagree with your list, based on what we know at the moment.
Letter from House Speaker Hastert
(Washington, D.C.) Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today sent the following letter to U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales: Sun Oct 01 2006 20:10:25 ET Dear Mr. Attorney General: Former Representative Mark Foley resigned from the House of Representatives on Friday, September 29, 2006, after improper and illicit communications between Mr. Foley and former House pages were made public. While the House of Representatives on that day voted to refer this matter to the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct for investigation, they do not have jurisdiction over federal law or over him upon his resignation from office. As Speaker of the House, I hereby request that the Department of Justice conduct an investigation of Mr. Foleys conduct with current and former House pages to determine to what extent any of his actions violated federal law. As I am sure you are aware, there are two different and distinct communications at issue here. First, Mr. Foley sent an email to a former page of Representative Alexander in the fall of 2005. This email was determined to be over friendly by Representative Alexanders office but was not sexual in nature. Second, based on media reports, there is a different set of communications which were sexually explicit instant messages which Mr. Foley reportedly sent another former page or pages. These communications, of which no one in the House Leadership was aware to my knowledge, reportedly were sent sometime in 2003. According to an Editors Note that appeared on the St. Petersburg Times website yesterday, the Times was given a set of emails from Mr. Foley to Representative Alexanders former page in November of 2005. (See A Note From the Editors located at http://blogs.tampabay.com/buzz/ , visited on September 30, 2006). The editors state that they viewed this exchange as friendly chit chat and decided not to publish it after hearing an explanation from Representative Foley. Acting on this same communication, the Chairman of the House Page Board and the then Clerk of the House confronted Mr. Foley, demanded he cease all contact with the former page as his parents had requested, and believed they had privately resolved the situation as the parents had requested. Unlike the first communication, the second communication was a set of instant messages that contained sexually explicit statements and were reportedly generated three years ago. Last week, ABC News first reported these sexually explicit instant messages which led to Representative Foleys resignation. These sexually explicit communications warrant a criminal referral in two respects. Initially, since the communications involve interstate communications, there should be a complete investigation and prosecution of any federal laws that have been violated. In addition, since the communications appear to have existed for three years, there should be an investigation into the extent there are persons who knew or had possession of these messages but did not report them to the appropriate authorities. It is important to know who may have had the communications and why they were not given to prosecutors before now. Therefore, I also request that the Department undertake an investigation into who had specific knowledge of the content of any sexually explicit communications between Mr. Foley and any former or current House pages and what actions such individuals took, if any, to provide them to law enforcement. I request that the scope of your investigation include any and all individuals who may have been aware of this matterbe they Members of Congress, employees of the House of Representatives, or anyone outside the Congress. Your attention to this serious matter is appreciated. I am also sending to the Department of Law Enforcement for the State of Florida a request to investigate whether or not any state laws were violated by Mr. Foley or anyone else with respect to this matter.
Sincerely, J. Dennis Hastert
You are wrong. The story is why the GOP leadership didn't take action after being informed months or over a year ago. We shouldn't expect more action from our enemies, than from our "friends."
You started digging dirt on a MINOR.
That is not "substance." That is COMPLETELY out of line.
Whoever might have given you the idea that this is okay here on FR was misinformed.
Here's something of substance: some advice for you -- It's OVER. Foley is OVER. It's done. Kaput.
There is nothing you can do to make this better, and a lot you can do to make this worse. Just let it go.
"In addition, since the communications appear to have existed for three years, there should be an investigation into the extent there are persons who knew or had possession of these messages but did not report them to the appropriate authorities. Excellent. Imagine if the Dems were like this when one of their commits a crime or engages in illicit/shady behavior. Their ranks would be much thinner.
If Hastert or other Rs knew about this, he is lying. That means time for a viable third party.
Wondering about the possibility of other congressbeasts with similar proclities (homosexual or not) with dirty laundry.
My wish would be to shine the light of day on them all and toss out every creep.
Indeed. Those who hold strong moral beliefs in this country have been silent much too long. Meanwhile, the wolves in public life and elsewhere in the shadows have been able to do their evil deeds while so-called leaders have gone along with the "diversity" charade and "acceptance and tolerance" agendas. The time for this to stop is now. We do need to throw the bums out on their rear ends before they cause more damage to our society and innocents.
Those who are considering a run for President in 2008 had better include a strong moral viewpoint or conservative $$$ and support is going elsewhere or staying in their savings accounts. And, I hope Guiliani and McCain are listening...
I'm also very tired of apologists for this type of behavior and we've seen too much of that in the last 48 hrs reaction to Foley and his resignation.
I agree with you 100% and many others do too, more than some people might think.
When the choices offered to us are "Democrats" and "Democrats lite" it's getting harder and harder to vote. Have you seen calcowgirl's Schwarzenegger threads? It's amazing how some (one in particular) sucks up to Arnold. I'd choke on my own vomit if I tried to vote for him.
