..."from Senegal to Sulawesi, from Delhi to Dearborn, I've seen no end of vibrant, humane, hopeful currents in the Muslim faith," the columnist insists.

You'd think if there were so many examples of that, the LSM would be plastering the news with it in their drive to convince the world that islam really IS a peaceful religion. Perhaps the dearth of such stories is very telling.

If even THEY can't find them....

Nah - he is definitely wrong on this one, but Peters is a pretty astute observer of military/strategic trends. Everyone is entitled to be wrong on something; he just chose to be wrong on something VERY important.

Fasinating article.

In her 2001 book "The Rage And The Pride," Fallaci (who fought in the anti-fascist resistance as a young girl in World War II) could have been addressing Peters when she warned: "You don't understand, you don't want to understand, that a reverse Crusade is underway - a war of religion they call Holy War, Jihad. You don't understand, you don't want to understand, that for those reverse Crusaders the West is a world to conquer and subjugate to Islam."

Needed to be in bold.

Yeah, you would think that he would have at least read a brief synopsis of Sun Tzu's work on ways to win without fighting.

What a bonehead this "military man" is. Probably peeled spuds and scrubbed crappers for four years. If not, he should have!

With all due respect to the late great Fallaci, it was the other way around. The crusades were the answer to the last Muslim Jihad on Europe.

Sad the way she was treated the last days of her life. Speaking out(writing)about the true face of islam got her locked up.

Ya gotta hand to the muslims, they are experts when it comes to shutting down any opposition. Utter islam is sick, and mo-ham-id was a pedophile, and they'll lock you up for a hate crime.

Is there a magic number that when muslims have murdered a certain number of the human race that we start to fight back?

I'm sure Crusades II will kick off eventually. As soon as someone figures out that magic number...if anyone's left that is.

I've seen Peters on TV and always wondered whose side he was on. Not ours, apparently.

So says Ralph Peters, retired military man

Military service does not automatically bestow wisdom. I also served in the military and my friends will attest to the fact that, like John Kerry, John Murtha, John McCain, and Ralph Peters, I don't know my arse from a hole in the ground.

Guys like Peters and Norquist (to name only two among many) are freakin Arabist bootlickers who are majorly compromised. We should have weeded them all out a long, long time ago. THEY are the enemy within!

Exactly!
Over the past 40 years or so, it's been popularized (by the Left of course) that the Crusades were some kind of horrid, uncalled for aggression on the peaceful Holy Land to make it some kind of vassal state. It's incredible how the facts can get twisted!

Ralph Peter's is usually dead on the money. His only real mistake here is that he strayed out of his expertise, which is military affairs, and into a sociologial matter that he's not really tracking on.

I'd advise everyone to read his military insights, which are by and large first class material, and ignore his personal opinion on this. Army officers are forced to endure tremendous PC programming in order for their careers to survive. He's really not unlike many outstanding officers I've known, that, aside from occasionally repeating the muddle headed party line polical correctness they're force fed throughout their careers, are brilliant and admirable people.

Well, there's always hope. Maybe your friends are fullofit.
